This article takes the court-ballade during the social transformation period as the main studying object, trying to make a whole outline and description of the court-ballade during the social transformation period. From the points of view of narration, politics and culture, history, and sociology, etc, this article analyzes the representation of flux of life style, political conception, ethic and morality, culture and ideology in palace epopee, and the affection they brought, after China converted to modern industrial and commercial society from traditional agricultural society. Also the deepening and developing skeleton of court-ballade with the transformation of society is discussed here. Through the analysis of main characters in court-ballades, the article opens out, after social transformation, that traditional monarch and the court entered into the deeper mechanism and narrative characters behind the modern culture, transvalued the modern court-ballade, and reviewed some popular criticism again to discuss the gain and loss of modern court-ballade.The whole article is consisted by introduction, text and epilogue, and the text is divided into 3 parts, 10 chapters in all.The introduction defines the notion of court-ballade, traces back the historical origin of court-ballade, and expounds the glory and creation mechanism of modern court-ballade, the importance, signification and researching methods of this article. The first part consists 3 chapters, analyzing the historical essence of the role of monarch, and the traditional national traits, such as the imperial power and paternity together and monarch and country in syncretic, and the mixed ideology of"the world belongs to everybody"and"the world belongs to the King", caused by the construction of family and country together. It discovers that the modern court-ballade overthrows intrinsic visual angle of a monarch, from an examiner in family epopee since May 4th Movement of 1919, to an honorific king in court-ballade during the social transformation period, the narrating features changing from treating the king admirably to treating equally, and its realistic basis. At the same time, the monarch's characters of"King is the whole nation"and"the public and private mixed", are corresponding to the social psychology in which"the nation as standard"and"individual as standard"going on side by side. And it also brings a narrative room which can gain advantage from both sides to modern court-ballade. On the one hand, the owning character, the king privately owned the nation, makes the court-ballade can build a king image which has a strong subjective consciousness, to echo the individualism appeal in the market economy. On the other hand, the monarch's status as the"father of the nation", under the traditional social construction of family and country together, makes the king's individual achievement interflow with that traditional consciousness. However, in modern court-ballade, chasing and yearning after the imperial power turns to be a standard model, which presents the traditional political trail during social transformation period, and reveals people's loss and puzzlement between the tradition and modern times. The middle 3 chapters, describe the court-ballade during transformation period's modernistic envision of traditional fem in imperial harem, anatomize women's room of flexibility brought by traditional family living style and the relationship between"female king'regent",, and expatiate the living mode of"Queen mother"as bulwark of government and women mental correspondence under the traditional social system of imperial power and male authority uppermost. Through the analysis of some"queen mothers"as Xiaozhuang, Cixi, Wuzetian in modern court-ballades, it unfolds the quiet return of traditional female notion and the idea's rootedness of male authority standard during transformation period. While the feminie in court-ballade, just reveals the females'embarrassed situation that whether they choose the traditional living style of attaching themselves to bulwark of government in behind or living independently on the stage, the females cannot get the total happiness. And the last three chapters analyze the vision of the subjects in court-ballade. The royal court is the home of the king, and the subjects only are the vassals in the home of the king. However, in modern court-ballade, all subjects under the imperial power, from Assistant Minister of State to Tutor of Emperor, from incorruptible bureaucracy to malfeasant, from eunuch to maid-in-waiting, had the ideological germination of private rights. Whether it is the Assistant Minister of State's effort to speak equally with the king, or the malfeasant's high individual desire; whether it is the business deal between the eunuch and the king or the change of identity from a maid-in-waiting to a modern female engineer, imply the subject's desire for equality and freedom all without exception. In the pattern of narration, most court-ballades arrange a drop scene that the subjects run away, predicting the loyal court's essential result of coming down. While the life course of a king to a civilian, demonstrated in the film The Last Emperor, and the novel My Imperial Life, predicts that whether the kings or the minions, all will gather together into the onrush of modern civics. The epilogue summarizes the whole article, generalizing the relationship between court-ballade during social transformation period and the process of China's modernization, and discovering the special importance that the boom of court-ballade brought to China's modern realism and the generation of literature culture.
