Chih-yen had Hua-yen as his career, and contributed all his life to the study and spread of Hua-yen. Chih-yen master, as the Hua-yen second patriarch, not only had important contribution to the initial creation and formation of Hua-Yen philosophy, but also was the pioneer of Hua-yen thoughts. Actually, in terms of the whole Hua-yen content, the epitome of Chih-yen's thought can be seen everywhere in those necessary Hua-yen thoughts. This paper is based on the study achievements of Hua-yen, by combing and interpretation the works of Chih-yen, to grasp all Chih-yen's life and Hua-yen thoughts throughout the development history of Hua-yen. Specific attention is focused on the interpretation of Chih-yen to Hua-yen philosophy. The thoughts of Chih-yen's four works at Hua-yen are profoundly analyzed. Especially, Chih-yen's pioneering interpretations at Hua-yen philosophy are analyzed and proved with philosophy conception. Chih-yen's contribution to Hua-yen philosophy discussion, the philosophical implications of Hua-yen thoughts containing are revealed by analysis and proof.The main part of the paper is divided into five chapters. Adding preface and conclusion, there are total seven parts. The first chapter introduces the relationship of Chih-yen and Hua-yen thoughts. The second chapter is Chih-yen's P'an-Chiao thoughts. The third chapter is about Chih-yen's Six Characteristics thoughts. The fourth chapter introduces Chih-yen's Ten Profundities thoughts. The fifth chapter is Chih-yen's dharmadhàtu dependent origination thought.The preface is mainly to clarify the originations of writing this article, research value and current research status of Chih-yen's Hua-yen thoughts. Then, the structure and main content of this paper are introduced.In the first chapter, the origination, main content of Hua-yen sutra and the formation of Hua-yen School constitute the premise and background of Hua-yen thoughts research. Through further combing the text of historical materials and the comparison of relevant works, Chih-yen's thoughts and works are objective, comprehensive, specific evaluated.The second chapter is about Chih-yen's P'an-Chiao thoughts. P'an-Chiao is the moral principles of Buddhism conception of history, and a kind of interpretation of Buddhist monks to classical and history. The second ancestor, Chih-yen, proposed his own P'an-Chiao theory based on conclusion of predecessors'achievements. His P'an-Chiao theory fully reflects the necessity as a representative of initial Hua-yen School to establish P'an-Chiao. P'an-Chiao theory established the Sutra of the most excellent position, and is also the foundation of Hua-yen School creation. Chih-yen's P'an-Chiao theory is based on the P'an-Chiao theory of other researchers', and have some amalgamation and innovation. But no matter what kind of P'an-Chiao, Chih-yen master put Hua-yen sutra in the primary position to show its most excellent position. Chih-yen's"five religions"P'an-Chiao theory provided the initial basic framework for the"Five Religions and Ten Sect"P'an-Chiao system.The third chapter introduces Chih-yen's Six Characteristics thoughts. The initiative"Six Characteristics Perfect Interfusion thoughts"is analytic proof. This thought is an important part of Hua-yen, and is also one of the features of Hua-yen. The second ancestor, Chih-yen, first proposed"Six Characteristics perfect interfusion"theory, and he became the pioneer of the important thoughts. The not affect meaning of"Six Characteristics perfect interfusion"can be seen in the definition of Six Characteristics. The theory of"Six Characteristics Perfect Interfusion"need people look into all things from three areas: total and part, same and different, good and bad. All things have two opposite aspects. The formation of all worldly phenomena rules and the relationships of different phenomena are also the same. The relationships of two opposite aspects are endless origination relationship of harmony not affect. The forth chapter is Chih-yen's Ten Profound thoughts. It is the second part of analytic proof about Chih-yen's pioneer thoughts. The thoughts of Ten Profound and Six Characteristics are the fundamental doctrines, and they constitute the central content of"Dharma Realm Origination"."Hua-yen yi-cheng ten profound"is the main argument object. It demonstrates a series of endless, harmony not affect. About the format process of ten profound doctrine, Chih-yen was uploaded the Dusun monk argument, and then proposed the most innovative ten profound doctrine. There is no register in sutra, so ten profound is pioneered by Chih-yen. Ten profound is a good solution to the relationship between one and multi. No matter it is in space or time, its meaning is to overcome confrontation.The fifth chapter is about Chih-yen's Dharma Realm Origination thought. It is the third part of analytic proof about Chih-yen's pioneer thoughts. In"Hua-yen Yi-Cheng Ten Profound", Chih-yen thinks that all theories can be summed up from Dharma Realm Origination. Chih-yen inherited Dusun master's thoughts and treated Dharma Realm Origination as Hua-yen's idioms. The thought of Dharma Realm Origination is used to explain the formation of the universe and all living creatures on earth encountered, and divided it into two gates, lot origination and temper origination, to interpret. The central content of Dharma Realm Origination is Six Characteristics and Ten Profound, but lot origination and temper origination concept of Chih-yen is the central content in this paper. Chih-yen master thinks that temper origination is the most successful doctrine, the origination concept. The meaning of temper origination is to demonstrate that law of the universe doesn't come from a variety of origination s, but come from the show of its own nature.In the part of conclusion, it is demonstrated that Chih-yen's life is the life of preaching writings, and he honors educating followers. Chih-yen didn't seek fame. His life was devoted to the study and preaching writings. Chih-yen master read Sutra through its multi-parameter study, transfer benefits over the division of knowledge learned, and finally have achieved. Chih-yen laid a solid foundation in the ideological argumentation. In fact, he is China's Hua-yen teachings of the founders of the ideological. Chih-yen master inherited the thoughts of Dusun's Dharma Realm Door Concept and Tenet, and created a Hua-yen comprehensive expression of thought. His thoughts nexus, and have multi-role to ideological argumentation of Hua-yen. Most of the following ancestors used Chih-yen's moral principles. Chih-yen's thoughts became an important central idea of Hua-yen.
