Zen Is A New Exploration Of The Sutra

《Platform Sutra》establishes its Chan theory distinctly from traditional Buddhism. It takes "the Unity of Buddha-nature" as a methodology to begin its study of "Baddhata" in the light of "theory of the Mind-nature". It also takes "the Mind-action" as the practice principle of Buddhist conduct in order to obtain full liberation from suffering by "the Sudden Enlightenment"."The Unity of Buddha-nature is the basic method that is always applied in the《Platfom Sutra》's thought of Chan. First,《Platform Sutra》applies "the One Reality" into the entire field of its Chan theory by equalizing the "the Buddha Dharma" to "the Unity of the Buddha-nature. Second,《Platform Sutra》bases its Chan system on "the Buddhata" defined by "the One Reality". Third, by applying "the One Reality" to explain all thought,《Platform Sutra》infuses "the Buddhata" into people's nature in respect of "the One reality" between the mind and Buddha.The theory of Buddhata is the theoretical premise of《Platform Sutra》's Chan thought. The Buddhata in《Platform Sutra》has seven natures which are the generalization, the equalization, self-service, unexchange, equality in quantities and quality, the undivided and the original enlightenment.Based on the Mind of Buddha,《Platform Sutra》found its unique Chan theory of the Mind-nature. It takes the True and Genuine Mind as supreme original entity and turns the mind of the original entity into the phenomenon mind while it turns the Buddha's mind into the people's mind, this way the abstract mind of the traditional Buddha into the self-controlled individual mind.The theory of the Mind-nature characterized by the individual mind has changed the Mind theory of the traditional Buddha.The Mind-action theory of《platform Sutra》is equated to its Mind-nature. Since the Mind generates everything in the world and its state is the sole factor that differentiates people from Buddha, the Mind-action is only way that will lead people to become Buddha. The Mind-action is the activity that returns the mind to its nature through the instant memory. It is neither the Mind-correction nor Mind & body control of the traditional Buddha.《Platform Sutra》has completed its Chan theory with the Sudden Enlightenment. The Sudden Enlightenment roots in the theory of the Mind-action and the Mind-nature. It is recognized that the Sudden Enlightenment is the only way to liberate people from suffering as long as it is understood that the instant memory of the Mind determines everything.
