With the development of science and technology especially information technology, the conventional steady market becomes much dynamic and mutative. For its much advantages beyond mass production, Mass Customization is turning into the main production pattern of manufacturing industry.Nowadays, the research on MC is inclined to implementary methods being viewed in enterprise. Few work focus on the acquiring and analyzing of customer needs in a system way, especially on the product evaluation in customer view. Under the foundation of domestic and overseas research, the dissertation fasten on the following issues:1,The challenge and opportunities faced with manufacturing industry are analyzed. The change of management ideology, the transformation of production pattern and management pattern are discussed systematically. In conclusion, Mass Customization is the production trend of manufacturing industry. Based on the analysis of research on and application of MC, the limitation of academic research and enterprise needs are pointed out, the main domains being studied in the dissertation are affirmed.2,The methods of acquiring customer needs are studied systematically. The actual state of research on and application of data mining and WEB mining are analyzed in detail. The method for acquiring customer needs by CRM is explained. Based on analysis of WEB data source and comparison with conventional way of market investigation, a approach of acquiring customer needs from concentrative WEB source is presented. The demand-analysis framework and the repository to support it are built. Besides, the reliability of customer needs acquired from WEB is discussed in detail. 3,The research on product requirements analysis is summarized. A macro-framework of product requirements analyzing is built for mass customization. Based on clustering analysis of customer colony, a methodology of product family matching by customer characteristic is presented. The method for getting and organizing product requirements of customer colony is studied thoroughly. A product requirements topology is built. The ways of standardizing and managing requirement information are researched. Besides, customization influence chain is researched and a knowledge management framework of product for MC is established.4,Under the study of DFMC, a product requirement analysis and modeling which based on function requirement topology and function requirement matching as well as the database of product family and product knowledge is proposed.5,The characteristics of Value Engineering for MC are interpreted. Starting from the original concept of Customer Value, an expanded definition is introduced to develop a quantitative model of CV. The key factors and associated characteristics are analyzing systematically. Directed by the model, a new approach for product evaluation is presented and a application case for product evaluation is explained. Besides, a model of customer product selection is presented on the base of CV and requirement constraints.6,On base of CV, a method of customer satisfaction index for product family is presented. The criterion framework is established and its application is explained in detail.7,Combined with enterprise needs, the application of theoretic production is introduced.
