Korean Peninsula is located at the heart of Northeast Asia; it is the bridge which connect the Asia Continent with Japan. With this special geographic location, Korean Peninsula has a very important strategic value. So in the past 100 years, the great powers have competed in this area furiously. The result of these competitions is three wars, i.e. the Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895), the Russian-Japanese war (1904-1905) and the Korean War (1950-1953). The history of Korea peninsula has always affected by the great powers.Surrounded by the great powers and faced with the furiously competitions, the Korean Empire not merely sat idle but made its best to survive. It gained its independence by making use of the conflicts between China and Japan and found the Korean Empire by making use of the conflict between Russia and Japan. Though its struggle for Neutralization failed at the end, but left a lot of lessons to the world. This dissertation focuses on the diplomatic relations between Korean Empire and China from 1897-1910 and illustrates the figure of the developments and changes of the relation.
