Because of the influence of realism, there is a popular viewpoint in the field of international politics that ideology is treated as "feint", "excuse", "prejudice", and so on. During Cold War, ideology has become fundamental sign of the Two Camps. Many people reasonably believe that, the so-called Cold War is in fact "war of ideology". After the end of Cold War, the Western scholars boast that ideology has been ended. Is that true? In fact, as a kind of world view and methodology, ideology offers a kind of value measure and defence system for every country, and play long-term role in international politics. The importance of ideology just like what American historian Michael H . Hunt says, "this topic is too important to neglect, it likes an ill and depressed relative, so we should pay more attention to it, but we gave a little care to it in the past, and even perfunctorily does".However, after Cold War, some domestic scholars claim that every country should give up ideology and return to the national interest in the international society. Then, the concept of national interest that is discussed frequently in the field of international politics has been drawn out In the international society that nation-states are dominant, national interest is an eternal starting point of a country foreign policy. Actually, what is national interest? What is the relation between ideology and national interest on earth? What are the interest of US in the Middle East, Afghanistan, Iraq, Balkan and the Eastern Europe? Why does US output its values firmly? And firmly supports and instigates "color revolution"? US often boasts "China threat theory", and why? Obviously, all these are related with values, that is to say, ideology of US.As far as the domestic and foreign researches presently are concerned, many scholars have elaborated the relation between specific ideology and national interest, but few scholars have elaborated the relation between general ideology and national interest. This article will systemically discuss the relation between ideology and national interest. Based on these domestic and foreign studies, this article will link ideology with national interest, by analyzing historical materials, in order to discover some relatively stable and orderly in the variable relation between ideology and national interest.
