Since the adoption of the reform and open-door policy at the end of the 1970's, China has taken a new outlook, and with enhancement in social status, women have played a more and more important role in social progress. The dissertation is intended to explore the issue of women's rights in China in the light of social gender. With a view to breaking traditional dualistic mode of thinking, to stressing the intersubjective mode of thinking and to finding solutions to the issue, the author focuses her attention on the developing pattern, thinking transformation and representation for women's rights, and then comes up with suggestions for improving women's rights in contemporary China.This dissertation consists of six chapters besides Introduction and Conclusion.Chapter One is concerned with women's rights in the light of social gender. As far as women's development is concerned, two major patterns, namely liberalism feminism and development and socialism feminism and development have figured prominently in the academic circles both at home and abroad.
