A Study On Marxism Popularization In China

Scientific theories are the source and outcome of practice. They areextracted from practice and must be applied to it. The combination of thetwo brings about a huge power and acts as an effective approach forpeople to learn and change the world. The origin of Marxism and itslocalization in China is practice. These theories are not just rigiddoctrines or pure theories,but the summary and sublimation of people'sexperience. Their scientific value can only be displayed by serving thepeople.The Report to the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party ofChina (CPC) focused on establishing a nuclear socialistic value systemand consolidating the guiding position of Marxism. It said explicitly:"...to carry out the publicity and dissemination campaign ofChinese-featured socialistic value system,and to promote thepopularization of Marxism in contemporary China."It also pointed outthe new theoretical and practical missions for the Party in new era.Although the concept of"popularization of Marxism"is brought forwardfor the first time in the Report,the ideas and practice have been existentsince the establishment of Marxism. Since the May 4th Movement,Marxism has been prevalent in China. It has come to be understood andutilized by the mass and helped gain unprecedented achievements inChinese Revolution and Socialistic Construction,We shall not segmenthistory in the process of promoting Marxism popularization incontemporary China. On the contrary,we should draw lessons fromhistory and laws and explore effective ways by taking new situations intoconsideration.Based on the basic theory and methodology of Marxism,this researchrefers to contents and methods of related disciplines. Starting with theconnotation,signficance and theoretical basis of Marxism popularizationin China,this dissertation weaves systematically the threads of Marxismpopularization during the New-democratic Revolution,from thefoundation of PRC to the implementation of the Opening Policy,and eversince. Experience of Marxism popularization are summarized in thefollowing six aspects in promoting Marxism popularization in China:1. the premise is to stick to the guiding role of Marxism. 2.A signficantguarantee is to stick to and strengthen the leadership of the Party. 3.Theideology is to be practical and be combined with practice. 4.The basicmethodology is to come from and go back to the public. 5.A powerfuldrive is theory innovation and Marxism popularization as the goal. 6. Oneimportant approach is to carry out education and publicity campaign ofMarxism in various ways. In addition,this research analyzes the newsituation by pointing out the major challenges and opportunities broughtby the great achievements of Chinese-featured socialistic construction,the current globalization,and the development of social transformation.Finally,some new thoughts are put forward on promoting Marxismpopularization in China:1.The focus should be put on Chinese-featuredsocialistic theory system. 2.A new theoretical frame of reference isprovided by communication. 3.Practically,critical assimilation of popularculture constitutes another reference. 4.The promotion of Marxismpopularization should aim practically at constructing an affluent society.
