The proper development of athletes in the areas of both outstanding athletic performance and enhanced overall quality of life consistently has surfaced as a long-term problem. To that end, this investigation targets important cultural aspects, training methodologies, and strategies for goal achievement of high performance American athletes. In short, this study sheds light on social, physical, and developmental process employed to develop high quality American athletes and provides a solid theoretical foundation for developmental reform in combinational sports education through the whole country. Various methodologies are utilized in this research including:reviews of the extant literature, case studies, comparative studies, statistical analyses, and interview and observations from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A & M University and the University of Texas at San Antonio. The following conclusions highlight the investigation:1. The general history of American intercollegiate sports appears to be divided into four stages of development including the initial stage, the specification stage, the mature stage and the reform stage. These stages of development followed an initial stage of organizational development, whereby after a period of years, sports became a part of the overall planning of higher education.2. They believed education represent the prevailing core philosophies, with successful academic and athletic development as primary goals goal. In addition, service to the community, and contributing to both the social and cultural wealth of the United States was also identified as motivating factors for success. Moreover, through skills training, counseling, academic training, a set of detailed rules and regulations, reasonable arrangements for athletic training time, and improvements in the incentive mechanism of competition, potential conflicts between education and sports are resolved. Thus, many student athletes receive good grades, experience both high graduation and employment rates, develop strong athletic skills and can choose competition jobs.3. Texas intercollegiate sports organizations model the role of athletes as students; expect student athletes to learn, train, and develop while maintaining compliance with a relatively strict system of rules that govern behavior. This system is reinforced by constant attention to refining the existing regulations for American intercollegiate athletes, enforcing the existing measures, and consistently monitoring a more comprehensive organizational security system.4. American intercollegiate sports encompass legal, professional, personal and commercial basic features. To that end, the behaviors of athletic participants are subject to severe legal constraints with competition based on professional training programs, sophisticated management practices, specialized on the division of professional sports team is a collection of related professional personnel; athletes in accordance with the pursuit of individual goals, self- need to meet, such as individual positioning and potential selection and operation; use of market mechanisms and commercial operation of the school and to achieve competitive advantage in the complementary function.5. Finally, the primary goals of the current athletic system main are to promote the healthy development of American intercollegiate sports and to reinforce freedom, equality and autonomy through competition. In addition, it was discovered that intercollegiate athletic programs provided post-athletic opportunities for participants to:benefit economically, engage freely in various religious beliefs, support the recognition of ethnic minorities and experience diverse political systems, traditions and customs evident in a multi-cultural environment.6. According to the sociology institutionalism theory, the intercollegiate sports system in the US must have two sides, advantages and disadvantages. Other countries should learn from their experience according to their own development characteristics.
