With the rapid development of informationalization in education, all kinds of data in huge amount gradually build up in different kinds of educational information plat-forms. The integration and full use of these data as a basis for decision-making will improve the quality of decision, making it more objective and scientific. DDEDSS (Data-Driven Educational Decision Support System), which is a system to aid people achieve those goals, is of great research significance. The research on DDEDSS, which covers a number of areas such as education, data, software, is still at its begin-ning stage.Aiming at a comprehensive study on DDEDSS, the present study designs and develops a prototype of DDEDSS as an tool for educational decision, and tests it out with educational data collected from eight years in a row. For example, through clas-sifying, learners'interset can be identified; through clustering, learners can be grouped so as to facilitate collaborative learning; by means of regression, it helps to predict learners'performance and set teaching goals; by calculating sums and aver-ages of learners'scores at different time (school year, term), from different source re-gion (province, city), and gender (male and female) and different curriculum catego-ries (philosophy, affection, science, technology, practice), their learning can be eva-luated, thus providing basis for decision-making in curriculum optimization and course hours adjustment; and so on.The dessertation can be divided into five parts.The first part explores the united solution for DDEDSS. DDEDSS covers three areas:education, data, and software, the dissertation research the interrelationship among the three areas and explores the united solution for DDEDSS, naemly, un-veils the framework of "information interaction system", to "system principle and en-gineering" framework, to "educational system principle and engineering" framework, to "DDEDSS system principle and engineering" framework, and to "DDEDSS soft-ware system principle and engineering" framework, so as to improve the credibility of the study.The second part is on educational data modeling. Along the logic line of "DDEDSS system principle and engineering", this study constructs a model for edu-cational data as a basis of DDEDSS.The third part is on DDEDSS system analysis. Along the logic line of "DDEDSS system principle and engineering", this study makes a comprehensive analysis of DDEDSS system, laying the fundation for the development of DDEDSS software system.The fourth part deals with DDEDSS data processing. Along the logic line of "educational data collection and storage into data warehouse", to "multi-dimension analysis of educational data", to "data mining of educational data", it studies and de-velops educational data warehouse, educational multi-dimension data set, and educa-tional data mining structure necessary for DDEDSS, laying the fundation for data processing methods of DEEDSS.The fifth part is about software development. Based on "DDEDSS software sys- tem principle and engineering" framework, it develops a prototype of DDEDSS sys-tem as a tool for educational decision-making, and put it to tested with educational data collected from eight years in a row.
