Beliefs And Aesthetic Anthropology In The United States - Hui Culture Study

Hui people is an ethnic group with a comparatively large population, which is most extensively spread in China. It's total population is981.6805 in 2000 .The economy and culture of Hui people are comparatively developed. Its particular culture is the important part of Chinese civilization. The core of the Hui people's culture is Islam, which plays an important part in the formation and development of Hui people and the ethnic characteristics and aesthetic mentality ofHui people. "Belief and Beauty---a study in the aesthetics anthropology of Huipeople" tries to use the theories and knowledge of aesthetics and cultural anthropology to study the problems as following:How the aesthetics thought and practice of Hui people took part in the formation and development of Hui people and fashioned the soul and character of Hui people and enrich the splendid and special culture of Hui people; What valuable and vigorous Aesthetics thought could still help Hui people and other ethnic groups to create the new mankind civilization together and improve the life quality and living condition of human being.The dissertation studies on the aesthetics' character of Islam from the point of view of anthropology. The dissertation is divided into several parts as follows:The first chapter is the aesthetics anthropology, which gives a discussion of the position and the developing trend of aesthetics anthropology and explore the uses of resource of aesthetics anthropology. It stresses that the discipline should be promoted so that the spirit of humanity would be fully represented.The second chapter is about presentation of aesthetics in religious belief. In this part, the author will go over the form, character and trend of the presentation of ethnic aesthetics with discussion about the bud and ripe of the aesthetics in religious belief and the aesthetics implication in Islam of Hui people. It also tries to describe the aesthetics sense in religious belief.The third chapter and the forth chapter are about the anthropological studies aesthetics in Hui people's culture. The two chapters are the central part of the dissertation, in which the discussions of the aesthetics of the Koran, Mosque, food and clothes are included with a presentation of the beauty of the wise and tolerance in Islam. It traces the anthropological source of these aesthetics elements.Chapter five is about relationship between the famous figures of Hui People andthe aesthetics anthropology. Li Zhi amd Zhang Chenzhi are the most famous figuresof Hui People whom the author selected. Through an anthropological study of aesthetics on the academic thought of the two people and the humanity spirit of their classic works, we obtain a systematic understanding of the aesthetics source of Hui People's characteristic and spirit.The conclusion is to answer some questions. According to the author, truth, clearness and endurance could be generalized as the aesthetics thought of Hui people which are fashioned in aesthetics psychology in every aspect influenced by Hui people's Islam such as clothes, food, living, action and so on.These special aesthetics style makes Hui people own a special culture style and life pattern, from which we could see the specific passion of "watching beautiful green mountains, I guess I am really a part of the nature".
