Arising at the end of 1970s, the study of negotiating curriculum begins at solving existing crisis of curriculum system. Its unique connotation not only riches contemporary curriculum language but also injects new energy in the development of curriculum theory. As a post-modern curriculum theory, the negotiating curriculum derives from Australia, then it was focused on by most American curriculum scholars; meanwhile, some American and Australian teachers (including teachers from some colleges and universities) took remarkable effect through implement of the negotiating curriculum. It is to cultivate students' critical ability, exploring spirit and reflective ability, which is regarded as foundation and inner frame and describes an ideal picture of curriculum.There are seven parts through full text:Section one Introduction. It introduces the source, general condition, meaning, ways of thinking and methods of research.Section two The connotation of the negotiating curriculum. As initiators of the negotiating curriculum, Garth Boomer(Australian), Jon Cook(Australian),and Nancy Lester(American) hold mat negotiating curriculum makes students join and revise curriculum program; furthermore, it encourages students' learning interests and exploring desire in order to improve students' critical, exploring and reflective consciousness and ability.
