The Educational Association In Republican China And Democratic Education

Some important educational associations, such as the Science Society of China, the Chinese NationalAssociation of the Mass Education Movement (CNAMEM) , etc.which were established during the period of Beijing government of Republican China ,had a leading and advancing effect on the construction of democratic education in China. They reformed the aims and the systems of democratic education perfectly, pushing construction of the system of democratic education forward greatly. These educational associations urged the government to enforce the new purpose of"to culitivate the sound personality and develop the republican spirit". The new purpose of education thought it very important that the education should develop the citizen responsibility consciousness and capability of Republican China, for democratic education should make the educatees to be the master of Republican China. The new purpose of education not only had the significance of objection feudalism, but also even had the significance to construct Republican China. These educational associations carried the principle of the democratic education into the new educational system.In order to push construction of the democratic education system forward, the educational association reminded that China should grasp the spirit of western educational systems. The construction of democratic education should try to improve the teachers'capability and the condition of education. The educational associations not only made efforts to construct democratic education system, but also tried their best to develop science education and improve the economic condition of the democratic education .During the Beijing government and Nanjing Nationalist Government, the feudalism and autocratic government made Republican China had difficulty in making great progress in construction of democratic education. But the important educational associations ,for example, the Chinese National Association of the Mass Education Movement, surprisingly succeeded in democratic education in school.The educational associations tells us how to do in order to succeed in democratic education. The important associations persisted their own independence and thought freedom. . Because of the justice target of"common good", these educational associations succeeded in gaining important support and help from all the patriots in China.
