In the industrialized societies, media consumption is the overwhelming activity. In the media industry, television industry is accounted for the largest share. As a variety of practices and contents, TV entertainment programs not only receive attention from the producing and broadcasting agencies, but also play a big role in the viewing competition of all the programs. In the social and cultural dimensions, TV entertainment programs will easily interact with social psychology, social philosophy and social structure.The research takes social structure and media structure as the main two factors that affect the development of entertainment programs and television ratings changes. On the one hand, viewing behavior of TV entertainment is determined by structure and product of mass media under specific media conditions. Including types and format of entertainment, program systems constituted of them, and the competitive environment of media market, competition and cooperation between different types of entertainment programs. Chinese television entertainment has gone through five major development systems and TV entertainment shows the development trend of civilian, which in turn adjusts media structure according to audiences'feedback under the influence of social structure.On the other hand, viewing activities of television entertainment is the outcome of taste and total amount of leisure time of the audience, which are determined by demographic characteristics, family structure and regional factors. Affected by family background and school education, individual shows different tastes in TV entertainment consumption, thus will spend different time viewing the program. From the perspective of'survival time', personal recreational activities itself, including viewing of TV entertainment programs, is a dynamic process of becoming, which limits one's leisure options and the amount of time for leisure in family or in society.
