This article discusses briefly about the developments of time domain control theory and frequency domain control theory. The current work of researchers in the fields of adaptive control and predictive control are evaluated. Then, combined with practical problem, the deep researches based on frequency domain theory are made into the analysis and design ofβ-type generalized predictive control (GPC) as well as the stability problem of generalized predictive control algorithm for MIMO system. The main results of this paper are as follows:1 The closed-loop feedback structure ofβ-GPC is proposed. The closed-loop and open loop transfer-functions is introduced. It is proved that the constant of eigenfunction for closed-loop transfer-function is zero. Aβ-GPC stability theorem based on closed-loop feedback is presented2 Aβ-GPC stability theorem based on frequency domain is presented. A method ofβ-GPC controller analysis and design based on frequency domain is proposed .3 The paper presents the first application ofβ-GPC controller in industry. Theβis acquired by the method of frequency domain, and therefore the effect ofβto stability is visual. A method of automatic temperature compensate for the infrared thermoscope is introduced in the paper. By this method, the infrared thermoscope, with changeless radiation factor, can measure the temperature with defferent radiation factor accurately.4 A MIMO-GPC stability theorem based on frequency domain is presented. The closed-loop feedback structure of MIMO-GPC is proposed. Nyquist array methodology is used to analyze the stability of MIMO-GPC.5 A fast algorithm MIMO-GPC base on decoupling is presented. The fast algorithm not needs to compute the Diophantine equation and inversed matrices on line. It also reduces interaction.
