With the impetuous development of information network technology, the intense global economic competition make all the countries'steel enterprise have to face the unprecedented huge pressure, meanwhile, they also bring unprecedented developmental chance and great challenges. During this, the manufacturing execution system (MES) for steel enterprises, as one of the necessary means that the enterprises take part in the global competitions, gets universal attention of all the firms. The MES for steel enterprises naturally becomes one of the important research fields that refer to modern informational and steel manufacturing management. As the new administrant management idea and mode, MES provides a new thinking to expand steel enterprises developmental space and upgrade steel enterprises' manufacturing capability. Considering both from management mode of steel enterprises and the view of the constant change and increase of public and enterprises demand, it is very necessary to build up the MES and its realization system and the inevitable choice of the modernization of administrational management of steel enterprises. Because construction of MES and its system is just on the start-up level, it is lagging especially the combined application of the information technology and the manufacturing process of steel enterprises. There are many problems in the process of the application of MES; therefore, the design and development of MES systems software and its key technologies are difficult to satisfy the steel enterprises'practical demand. Therefore, this thesis research on systemic the MES in the light of its constitution and key technologies.The main objective and significance of this research dissertation lies in:one side, according to the theory research on building MES, some extended theory has been proposed to instruct the coming research and practice of MES. On the other side, proposing one series construction tactics and key technologies for MES, and offer one valuable method to instruct the practice of MES. Furthermore, the resolve to the question of how to integrate software engineering theory and steel manufacturing management theory into the construction of MES will establish beneficial and good foundation for the research of MES.This dissertation has accomplished the work in the following five aspects:Firstly, the relative concepts and theories with MES are analyzed, and clear the relationships among MES, ERP, PCS and enterprise informational management. This dissertation indicates that MES is the bridge between ERP and PCS, the technology support system of field work and field management and the important composing of enterprise management system in steel enterprises.Secondly, the holistic framework of MES fit for steel enterprises is proposed. To the research status on building MES, the relative theory still need further development. According to the status of MES in the enterprise information management system, the functional framework of MES, software levels and system platform are bringing forward.Thirdly, the implementing methods of MES are proposed. From the path of technology, design method, development method and project management, the technical implementing methods of MES for steel enterprises are expatiated.Fourthly, the key technical system on building MES for steel enterprises is figured out, including the optimization model technologies of MES for steel enterprises, the system integration technologies for MES, ERP and PCS, the design technologies of structural MES software productions, development and system integration technologies and platform technologies of MES for steel enterprises.Finally, the application case study of MES in BS company in China, a typical and large steel manufacturing company, is carried out to validate the performance of the MES built above relative theories, implementing methods and key technologies.In the last, the research fruit and the parts of innovation are summarized in this thesis. Following that, the need of more research work is pointed out.
