By the population of information technologies (IT), information systems (IS) have been becoming the basis of running daily operation in various enterprises. By the diversity of end-users'requirements, the functions of IS are more and more complicated. Therefore, the need for high quality IS development (ISD) is emergent. Recently, team is the main working unit of ISD, which could enlarge the capabilities of team members and avoid risk. The research of the factors which influence the team work are abundant, but the investigations of China's ISD team performance are rare. Supported by several sociological theories and psychological theories, this dissertation conducts empirical studies on the factors affecting ISD team performance from two different views: individual level and team level.ISD is a technological problem because of the need of high technological languages and methods. But by the appearance of team work, ISD has become from a pure technological problem to a social fact. The ISD team members not only have the professional abilities, but also own the abilities to suit in the team work. Hence the research target is moving from the technological aspects to the behavioral aspects of ISD team members. It is necessary to study the behavioral problems in ISD team performance.In the part of introduction, this study first reviewed ISD team performance research status. Team is different from group, which is consisted by a special target. According to the different research objects, we could divide team performance into objective performance and perceptual performance. Objective performance is a measurement of team performance at the product level, which is to measure the quality of target information system. The relative measurement systems include CMM, CMMI, ITIL, ITSM and so on. Besides objective performance, the other method emphasizes on the quality of team level and considers the actual feeling of people. By the different types of people, the perceptual performance research could divided into by the end-users feelings on ISD teams, by the support and evaluation of ISD teams, and the features of ISD team themselves. And this dissertation investigates the ISD team performance from the perceptual performance.This study focused on the following aspects:At first, we research the factors affecting ISD team members'personal performance in the process of requirement analysis. Based on emotional intelligence (El) theory, the influence of members El on team members'personal performance is discussed. And by the relationship management of El, we study the antecedents of El, which are communication quality, conflict control and the attitude toward users. Meanwhile, the relationship of enterprise characteristics of team members'personal performance is also discussed.Second, research of ISD team members' confidences and performance improvement in team work are conducted at the individual level. Shared mental models (SMM) is used to represent the teamwork mode. And the two dimensions of social cognitive theory are used to explain the ISD team members'confidences and shared mental models. The research results indicate that team members'confidences and shared mental models could impact the individual performance improvement significantly.Third, from the team level, the integration of technical aspect and social aspect is discussed based on the socio-technical theory and coordination theory. The coordination is used to instead technology itself because the research target is the behavioral aspect. The influence of compensation satisfaction on team performance is also been discussed. The research results indicate the features and problems of ISD industry of China.At last, the importance of knowledge sharing and shared mental model are investigated. The three dimension of social capital theory are used to explain the shared mental model in ISD teamwork.The research method of this dissertation is the integration of questionnaires and structure equation model by the software of Lisrel 8.7 and PLS Graph 3.0.
