Credit Risk Management Study

After several years' development, there are 2 billion credit cards in the world, and 500 million in the United States. In United States, a quarter of retail trade was finalized by credit card, the loan of credit card consume credit exceeded 20 percent in all loan granted by banks in USA. In 2000, credit card brought 1.76 billion profits to HSBC, the profit which come from credit card become important part of business bank's profit, some of which it exceeded 50 percent.In our country, the credit card operation have developed quickly, the seller who accept credit card reached 298 thousand, the ATM reached 64 thousand, the POS reached 476 thousand, there are 125 institutions which issue credit card, including 15 national business banks, 88 city banks and 22 country credit union. The use of credit card consuming becomes popular.But the risk of credit card had emerged. In a long time, concerning the high risk of credit card assets, the banks have not enough confidence to issue credit card and constrain the development of it. Meanwhile the fraud risk of credit card is increasing; China becomes one of the highest countries in Asia.On one side the development of credit card is needed, on the other side the risk of credit card is so high. Therefore, the studies of credit card risk have is significant in theory and practice to the health development of credit card in our country.There are nine chapters in this thesis.Chapter one: introduction. This chapter shows the development ofcredit card, and the status quos of credit card, research methods, and main content of the credit card risk management.Chapter two: credit card and the risk of credit card.
