Generation side competition is the preliminary stage of electricity market, transmission and distribution separation is the inevitable course of electricity industry deregulation. In competitive transmission and distribution separated electricity markets, distribution companies (DistCos) will be deregulated from the traditional monopoly power industry and take part in market competition as an independent market participant. As a result, it is essential for DistCos to adopt optimal bidding strategies. The thesis carry out research directly towards bidding strategies of DistCos in transmission and distribution separated electricity markets. The main contents of the thesis are as follows,(1) Using stochastic optimization method, optimal bidding strategies for DistCos in step-wise bidding protocol employed transmission and distribution separated electricity markets. Optimal bidding strategies for DistCos in single-seller and multi-seller electricity markets respectively, and the problem of "unbalance electricity price" is considered.(2) Based on stochastic optimization theory, Optimal bidding strategies for DistCos in linear bidding protocol employed transmission and distribution separated electricity markets. Firstly, optimal bidding strategies for DistCos based on market clearing price forecasting, and the precision of market clearing price forecasting is considered. Then, based on rivals' bidding parameters' estimating, risk-constrained optimal bidding strategies for DistCos is proposed.(3) Optimal bidding strategies for DistCos with load management considered, the strategies of interruptible load customers are evaluated using agent-based simulation. Optimal bidding strategies for DistCos with Time-of-Use and interruptible load considered. Furthermore, optimal bidding strategies for DistCos with different contracts of interruptible load management considered, and the strategies of interruptible load customers are taken into account.(4) Taking the conditional value at risk (CVaR) as risk management index, DistCos purchase allocation among multi electricity trading markets is studied. A Mean-CVaR optimal purchase allocation strategy is built for DistCos by considering the competition of long-term contract markets, spot markets, self-contained power plant and even reserve markets.(5) A preliminary study is made on pricing mechanism for transmission and distribution separated...
