Industry Competition And Cooperation: Cooperative Game, The Network Platform And System Conditions

In recent years, with the rapid development of regional economic integration, the interactive relation among different regional industries has become one of the focal points in economic study and research. On the one hand, different regional industries are intensifying and upgrading the competition among them for better survival fields. On the other hand, it is too difficult to achieve an ideal state in which competitors completely defeat their opponents due to the increasingly expanding scale of participants in the competition. On the contrary, the most displays cooperative trend instead. Some of the trend can get sustained and developed in a long term, and the other is valid in a short time but invalid in a long time. Nowadays, the total utility resulting from cooperation is much bigger than that from competition under the similar conditions, which has almost been accepted, while there are a lot of different opinions about how to cooperate.On the views of co-opetition, the dissertation researches the interactive relations among different regional industries, deeply discusses enterprise co-opetition, industry game, industry co-opetition and so on by employing standard mathematic models and approaches, and clears the relations among these problems to explain the operation model of industry game and establish the mechanism and institutional conditions of industry co-opetition. This study frame breaks through the existing industry organization models taking pure competition or cooperation as the study target. At the same time, it expands the research scope of industry organization and extends its macroscopical utilization by bringing more relative factors into analyzing objects. Obviously the study frame is theoretically creative and advanced to some extent.With game theory as the main analyzing means and with the aid of enterprise network, the dissertation makes an analysis of enterprise competition, enterprise cooperation, enterprise co-opetiition, industry game, industry co-opetition and its institutional condition in turn. The definition of industry game participant, the analysis of industry game process and the formation of industry co-opetition are not only the emphasis of the dissertation but also the innovation. The dissertation contains six chapters, basically arranged in the order of "enterprise-enterprise network-industry". Chapter 1 gives a theory review which is divided into two parts: the first discloses the process of emergency, development and evolution of industry organization theory with the competition analysis as the main clue; the second part introduces network organization theory, providing the theoretical support for the industry game and co-opetiton. Chapter 2 and 3 are the microcosmic parts of the dissertation. Analyzing the competition and cooperation among enterprises, they clarify that competition and cooperation don't contradict each other but may coexist in a long term. The coexisting relation is just the"co-opetition", the higher level of game equilibrium and the result of long-term evolution. Entering into the core section, Chapter 4 makes a research of industry game by introducing the network organization. The establishment of game participant is both the difficulty and the emphasis as the analysis on game process can not be carried out without the participant. The emergence of enterprise network settles the difficulty, but the various internal characters of enterprise network complicate the analysis of industry game. Therefore, the dynamic course and more external factors must be inducted into the analysis of industry game. Chapter 5 concentrates the demonstration in industry co-opetition, illustrates its causes, evolution process and achieving thought, and finally draws a conclusion that industry co-opetition plays an important role in promoting regional economic development, especially in distributing resources and optimizing industrial structure. Chapter 6 discusses the external institutional condition of industry game and co-opetition, which makes the analysis much closer to reality. Thereinto, the industrial form is determined by a certain regional history and practical condition. As a result of industry evolution, it reflects the enterprise's or industry's ability to adapt to economic circumstances. The degree of the market oriented is the outcome of all kinds of economic forces during different periods, embodying the balance of industry internal and external forces. Government exerts a key influence on determining the realization and choosing of industry co-opetitions. Its coordinating ability and mandatory function ensure the industry game.In the writing of the dissertation, I used, digested and absorbed a lot of domestic and overseas researches and achievements, on the basis of which the viewpoint and theoretic research system have been formed. At the same time, a great deal of new thoughts and viewpoints were continually engendered, some of which has been contained in the writing and some has not gotten detailed discusses yet, needing to be explored in the future studies. It is hoped that the research thinking and correlative issue of the paper can give resonance in other scholars. More hopefully, some conclusions can take effect in the practical work.
