However, with increasing of marine exploitation activities, marine biodiversity preservation (MBP) function is destroyed gradually. To protectand preserve the marine biodiversity, government and marine ecology&environmentadministration are beginning to explore the techniques and methods for marineecological compensation (MEC). In this course, the primary task includes to makeclear the concept and the intension of the economic value of marine biodiversitypreservation (EVMBP), and to establish an accurate and effective framework forEVMBP measurement and evaluation. And these works can provide theoretical andtechnical support for the establishment and improvement of MEC system. On the other hand, problem of family income gap exists in realty, which bringsthe consequence that families with different income have unbalanced resistance to thepotential loss caused by marine biodiversity (MB) damage or unbalanced access to thepotential benefit from MB preservation. If the policy maker only employs economicefficiency as the principle of MEC, it probably may cause potential inequitableconsequence. Therefore, this calls theoretical analysis and investigation on the socialdistribution imbalance of potential impacts and the potential loss to low-incomefamilies which caused by MB loss and increase. Meanwhile, MEC system requiresappropriate protection of low-income families and gives more responsibility tohigh-income families in MB preservation.Based on the theory of MES, MBP, total economic value of MES, and economicevaluation of ecosystem services, this paper carries out theoretical studies on suchissues:(1) the intension and evaluation method of EVMBP;(2) social distribution andimpacts of MB loss and increase;(3) the equity principle of sharing the benefits from marine biodiversity preservation services and MEC. This paper also carries out anempirical study on EVMBP evaluation of China which presented by rare&endangered marine species and protected areas, and the relevant social distributionand impacts imbalance issues. This paper mainly focused on:(1) Discusses the concept of MBP and economic evaluation method of MES;analyses the significance of MBP to MES.(2) Discusses the sources, formation and classification system of EVMBP basedon the philosophical category of value relation; defines the the concept and theintension of EVMBP using the relationship between demand‘and effective demand‘in economics; builds a household utility model (HUM) to evaluate MES using thetheory of welfare economics and household production function; proposes theevaluation method and analyses influence factors of EVMBP using HUM.(3) explores the impacts and imbalance distribution of these impacts to familieswith different income caused by MB loss and increase; proposes the equity principleof sharing the benefits from MBP services and MEC using the concept of equity andjustice‘.(4) implements a case study on EVMBP evaluation of China which presented byrare&endangered marine species and protected areas; tests and verifies thetheoretical analysis in this paper. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Marine Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services, Household UtilityModel, Economic Value, Questionnaire Survey | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
