This paper mainly researches the advanced detection technology based on dynamic and directional electric field excitation method of coal roadway tunnelling. The existing underground advanced detection methods were studied and compared. The features of ideal advanced detection method were put out by combining the roadway tunnelling technique with its characteristics. According to the basic properties of point source electric field underground, I have studied the principle of the advanced detection technology based on dynamic and directional electric field excitation method which is applied to the heading face. I’ve established the layout of the electrodes and the controlling strategy to achieve the angle and depth scanning detection. I’ve also established the electronic model and mathematical model of dynamic and directional electric field excitation method. Two concepts of electric field restriction efficiency ηei and electric field deflection angle α were put forward. The relationship between current intensity, location of constraint electrodes and electric field restriction efficiency ηei electric field deflection angle α were analyzed, so as to determine the best parameter of constraint electrode. The advanced detection test systems based on dynamic directional electric field excitation method have been designed. The designing process of the test systems include function and the module design of advanced detector prototype and designing and producing of the test bench. At the end, the harmful geological structure IP model and simulated detection have proceeded in order to further checking the feasibility of the application of dynamic directional electric field excitation method to the advanced detection of coal roadway tunnelling.
