This dissertation is support by the project “The general geological map and database updating”, geological & mineral resources survey and assessment program. Tracked the international applied technologies, based on the China’s existing geological map database, data driven geological map updating theory and technologies were studied. Then compiling general geogical map&building database software platform was developed, and data driven technological process for compiling map&builing database was constructed. Finally, it’s concluded that the theory and technologies were proved applicable and effective through the practice and application.Reviewing geological map compilation updates in western developed countries and China, introducing the international map compliation information technology and its development, and application of information technology in China’s geological map compilation and database construction, it’s drawed that the expert system can play a positive role in the geogical map updating.The content and technical route was introduced aimed at China’s compiling geological map& building database.On the basis of the above, the data driven geological map updateing technology theory framework is described, and the existing data and information technology meet the basic conditions. The dissertation proposes two technology channel whch are based on data driven & man-machine interactively to update the small scale geological map data by the large scale one progressively, discusses the data driven geological map updating technology that is consists of geogical map complilation model, software platform, technology process.Thesis focuses on the study of the data driven geological map compilation model, on the geological map data management, compiling map implementation, preprocessing data, geological entity and relation, representation, symbolization, automatic annotation, decorative elements. These models are discussed in detail, especially the expert knowledge model and its application. It’s proved that in the order of formation sequence of geological entity in the geological evolution process to generalize geological entity can meet the requirements of geological objective law. At the same time, measures for the quality controling of data driven geological map update are putted forward.According to data driven geological map compilation framework and model theory, the basic geological map compilation and database construction software platform was developed, geological map updating the key algorithms and functions are realised based on the existing Chinese geological map database, the actual geological data generalized and representation are presented. Based on data driven theory and software program, the data driven geological map updating technology process is detailed, the map complilation and database construction technology practising verification work is carried out. The updated geological map and database prove this theory and models can meet the requirements of the production line, and the method could improve the efficiency of 50% compared with the traditional method.The thesis finally summarizes the main results of this study including model theory, methods and technology, which innovates the geological map compilation mode and improves the map compilation efficiency; points out the characteristics of data driven geological map updating technology; puts forward the existing problems in current research and the next focus.
