Coordination polymers as a newly-indentified functional materials have attracted much more attentions because of their promising applications in hydrogen storage, ion-exchange, adsorption, molecular recognization, catalysts along with optics, electrics, magnetism and enantioselective separateion. In this dissertation, we have synthesized a series of new coordination polymers based on N-hetercycles ligands. In addition, thermal stabilities and the photoluminescence of the compounds have been studied. In the first chapter, the concepts of coordination polymers, the potential applications of coordination polymers, synthesis methods, and category of coordination polymer are concisely introduced. At the end of this chapter, we pointed out that the importance of the search project and summarized the important results obtained in the thesis. In the second chapter, six unusual 3d-4f metal compounds, [Ln2M(m-bdc)4(TPA)(H2O)]·nH2O (n=2, Ln = Y, M = Co 1; n=2, Ln = Y, M = Zn 2; n=2, Ln = Er, M = Co 3; n=2, Ln = Er, M = Zn 4; n=0.5, Ln = Sm, M = Co 5) and [Y2Ni2(m-bdc)5(TBA)(H2O)3]·7H2O 6, where m-H2bdc = benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid, TPA = tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine and TBA = tris(2-benzimidazolylmethyl)amine, have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Compounds 1-5 are isomorphous with a 2D layer structures. Compound 6 shows a 1D double chain structure. These hydrogen-bond interactions of water clusters result in an overall 3D supramolecular structure of 6. In addition, thermal stabilities and the photoluminescence of the compounds 1-5 have been studied. In the third chapter, six new coordination polymers, [Co1.5(1,2,4-BTC)(H2BBA)]·2.5H2O (7),[Co(m-BDC)(0.50(HBBA)]·H2O (8),[Zn(p-BDC)(H2BBA)] (9),[Zn2(m-BDC)(HBBA)(OH)] (10) , [Cd(p-BDC)0.5(HBBA)] (11) , [Cd(m-BDC)0.5(HBBA)] (12), where 1,2,4-BTC=1,2,4-benzenetricarboxylate anion,H2BBA = bis(2-benzimidazolylmethyl)amine,m-BDC = m-benzenedicarboxylate anion,p-BDC = p-benzenedicarboxylate anion, have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Compounds 7 and 9 exhibit infinite 1D chain structures. Compounds 8, 11, 12 possess 2D polymeric structures, while compound 10 has a 3D net work. These different structures stem from the various pH and the structure of carboxylic acid in compound 7-12. In addition, thermal stabilities of compound 7-12 and the photoluminescence of the compounds 9-12 have been studied. In the fourth chapter, four new coordination polymers, [Zn(BBBA)]·3H2O (13);[Cd0.5(BBBA)0.5]·0.5H2O (14);[Co(BBBA)]·2H2O (15);[Cu(BBBA)(H2O)]·4H2O (16), where H2BBBA=bis(2,2,-(bis(2-benzimidazolylmethyl)amine))acetic acid. Compounds 13-15 exhibit 2D polymeric structures, where compound 16 possess infinite 1D chain structures. The thermogravimetric and lumenscent propertyes were also investingated for compounds 13 and 14The fifth chapter is the conclusions.
