The supporting problems ofsoft rock roadway has beenexisting in the productionand construction ofcoal mine, this paper is based on the engineering background of asoft rock roadway in Shenyang Puhe mine, and the on-site testing, theoretical analysis,laboratory tests and computer simulation are used as the comprehensive researchmethods, which study the deformation and failure characteristics ofsoft rock roadwayand supporting bodies, control mechanism and supporting technique ofsoft rockroadway. The following main results areobtained:(1) It reveals thatthedeformationand failure law of surrounding rock of the soft rock roadway in Puhe mine is out ofour control; continuous deformation of the surrounding rock happens in the roadwayand some deformation of surrounding rock is given, the existing engineeringconditions are not enough to prevent it.the post-deformation rate slows down, but rockdeformation volume is still more than400mm, which is beyond thecapacity of theanchor cable and other supporting materials and can cause deformation and failure ofthem and result in roof fall hazards.(2)The long anchor cablesare invented as a newtool to coordinate with the surrounding rock deformation, using a dedicated connectorrod butt to connect the two rods and theconnecting part are of the same intensity.Theanchor cable elongation is up to17%, which can overcome the anchor cables’ easilybreak one by one resulting from low elongation of the anchor cable when largedeformation of soft rock roadway happens.(3)Forlarge deformation ofthe soft rockroadway, the long and short length of the anchor are combined to solve this problemas the supporting technology to adapt to surrounding rock deformation andsustainably provide effective support resistance, and thissupport technology achieve the coordinationof the supporting bodies with the surrounding rock deformation andsupporting force to solve the traditional support technology problems, eliminating theroof fall hazards. This research trials was conducted in Puhe mine, and achieved verygood results.
