The polyphenylene sulfone has excellent thermal properties, thermal stability,mechanical properties, chemical resistance, flame retardancy and excellentprocessing performance, has been widely used in machining field. The traditionalprocessing methods are using sulfolane as solvent, this time resulting in high energyconsumption, low recovery efficiency, and sulfolane under high temperature willdecompose, If the processing can be the improvement of the process, have importantsignificance to the application of Engineering plastics. This paper design a highboiling point solvent sulfolane solvent instead of DMAc, The polymerization systembooster manner, can also obtain the excellent comprehensive properties ofpolyphenylene sulfone, At the same time we are technical parameters on thesynthesis of P3010polymer with the German BASF, get the same quality product,while the processing power consumption, processing time and procedure and thecost will be reduced greatly.The results showed, polyphenylene sulfone by self-designed prepared hasexcellent thermal properties, good processing performance, excellent mechanicalproperties, the test indicators have reached or exceeded the requirements of P3010.And in the equipment and energy consumption and process than traditional methodis simplified, and further improve the production efficiency.PPSU has some shortcomings, such as the solvent resistance and waterabsorption rate is high, which limits its application and development in a certaindegree, The important issue of how to improve these two issues is also in the field ofmanufacture engineering plastics research. There are a lot of improvement methods,including blending method is the most widely used polymer modification methods, can be mixed with small organic molecules, inorganic ions, metal materials, polymermaterials etc. In this study, we should improve the performance problems, and alsoto the performance of polymer excellent original is maintained, and does notincrease the difficulty in processing. In the analysis through the access of theliterature and personal experience, we decided to use another kind of engineeringplastics polyphenylene sulfide as a modifier, the modified polyphenylene sulfone,through the analysis of the content in the blends and the processing condition, get asolvent and a modified engineering plastics with low water absorption rate. At thesame time as the PPS has poor impact resistance, and polyphenylene sulfone haveexcellent mechanical properties, impact resistance performance high, also hope toimprove the mechanical properties of PPS polyphenylene sulfone original byintroducing a certain amount of, for two kinds of engineering plastics can improvethe shortage, improve their own advantages.Results show that the thermal properties of polyphenylene sulfide, introducedafter the system did not change significantly, showed two glass transitiontemperature; rheological properties are improved, the minimum can be reached200Pa.s, to make the process easier. The water absorption of the polymers toimprove the linear, with the increase of PPS absorption rate decreases, the mostimportant is the mechanical properties, in the content of30%, the mechanicalproperties of system was well maintained, improved the polyphenylene sulfide hasthe shortcomings of poor impact resistance, This was mainly due to two kinds ofpolymers during the mixing phase separation occurred, through the study of DSCand SEM can be found in the system, for the incompatible system, the incompatiblesystem in controlling phase separation structure reasonable, can achieve aninterpenetrating network structure, it is important to improve the structure of themechanical properties.Through the research of the two kinds of polymers blending, the introduction ofPPS improves the PPSU resistance to solvent and high water absorption, mechanicalproperties and PPSU improved the impact strength of PPS is bad, the twocomplement each other and perfect, when PPS content is30%, the mechanical properties and other comprehensive performance is good, to further expand thescope of application of this resin blends.
