In the last two decades, metal–organic frameworks(MOFs) constitute an emerging class of new kind of functional material useful in gas storage, purification and separation, luminescence, magnetism, heterogeneous catalysis, sensors and so on. They have attracted considerable attention for not only their intriguing topologies and higher surface area compared to ‘classical’ porous solids, but also the flexible tailor and decoration derived from the exsit of organic ligands. However, many crucial investigations are still in the initial stage, such as: how to realize directed synthesis and controlled assemble according to the synthesis rule, how to optimize the functional features for realistic application and so on. Therefore, this field still leaves much to be desired before the industrial application.Based on the principle of molecular engineering, we focused our research on the design, synthesis, structures and functional properties of new functional MOFs materials. With the aim of mastering synthesis regulation and improving the properties of MOFs materials, we were devoted to investigate the influence of organic ligand on the target structures and the influence of different functional groups on the properties of pristine material. In this thesis, we synthetize 7 new MOFs prepared with different organic ligands and analysise single crystal structure for each one of them, various functions related were studied. We also synthetize a series of ligands which based on different functional chemical group. Meanwhile we design and synthetize five different ion probe compounds which based on quinolone nucleus, whose related function being discussed and selectivitly change of those functions were theoretically calculated using mathematical techniques. Also, five compouds for metal ion detection were synthesized and the property for visual detection of metal ions was discused for each one of them. The results show that some of them could be used as visible detection of metal ion sensors, because thier absorption spetra changed after adding specific metal ions and the color of the solution changed too. Thier application in luminescent ion detecting sensor was investigated. The selectvity was different from the visual detection. Substituents far away from the ion recognizing center on the benzylvinyl also affected their selectivity of metal ions.
