Make-to-order of steel plates is widely used in modern iron and steel enterprise production pattern, aiming to achieve manufacturing-according-to-sale, to the production orders, reduce inventory and raw material procurement cost. For efficiency concern, it should be arranged according to the maximum benefits of production. But in the existing iron and steel enterprise information system, the maximum capacity of production pattern is mostly taken in use, and fixed in the form of the program code in the system, unable to change production mode through configuration. In order to achieve maximize-profits production mode in the information system based on user flexibility. In this paper, based on the theory of flexible software, through the establishment of maximum yield material deformation model, flexible business object description model, flexible description rules, and the flexible reasoning mechanism, the solution to MTO.First of all, the maximum yield of material deformation model is established, through the yield maximization material deformation algorithm, slab selection model and optimization, the solution to the maximum-benefits production model system has been achieved.Secondly, the paper puts forward the six layer architecture of steel flexible object, the presentation layer the knowledge of order, quality, resources, products, production line, the principle of operation,, process parameters, role control is described,. Th e parameters of the principle of the custom, custom rules and check mechanism have carried on the overall design. Custom parameters are applied to the flexible business object. The product, quality, order, production principles, production route, operation, resources are flexibly described.Next, flexible reasoning mechanism is established. flexible reasoning framework based on database, model base, rule knowledge base, reasoning machine and the interpreter is given, the custom table and custom reasoning is functionally designed and system constraint rules is established. The reasoning of the flexible mechanism is expounded; it is proposed of single-valued reasoning algorithm and multi-value reasoning algorithm based on the knowledge reasoning table and the running time of algorithms are simply analyzed. The design of flexible reasoning mechanism reflects the flexible system based on the users’ flexible.Finally, an example analysis verified that the flexible description and flexible reasoning mechanism can be available. Depending on the design applying of custom parameters, the custom knowledge reasoning table, and flexible inference rules of products, production route, quality, material deformation configured by the users, the specific reasoning process of the order quality design, production rules reasoning, yield maximization slab selection design are provided via the order based production instance. The results show that the flexible system can be based on the flexible configuration of business objects to solve the problem of the variability of the constraint conditions, and on the premise of satisfying the constraint conditions, flexible definition of system can be based on reasoning, to fix the automatic solving problem of custom reasoning and the flexible system based on the user’s flexibility has been achieved.
