While in improving the quality of human life, the rapid development of scienceand technology also led to the generation of ecological crisis. As double-edged sword,science and technology has improve human life in some respect, but at the same timealso has destroyed human living environment in varying degrees. When we pursue ofmodern life, ecological thought of traditional culture are ignored imperceptibly. Thiswill cause the assimilation of architectural pattern; more seriously, balanced system willbe destroyed imperceptibly. How to construct the future residential environment? Theconstructing mode of residential environment in developed countries is obviously notthe good way.Under this circumstance, the ancient oriental civilization seems pay more attentionto harmony between people and nature than western civilization. The paper focus on theecological thought of Chinese Taoism to find the key eliminating the confusion, andexplores the road for theory and practices of architecture on the basis of the nationalconditions; promote the innovation on theory and practices of harmony between peopleand nature. Due to the ideas with basic element of ecological significance exist in thetraditional Chinese Taoism, such as the "Nature and Humanity" ideology,“the HeavenlyFather and the Earthly Mother” ideology, and “Taoism follows nature” ideology, itprovides a platform to ecological awareness corresponding with the situation of ourcountry. Consequently, it is necessary to study the Taoist architecture and traditionaldwelling from an ecological thought of Chinese Taoism view, analysis the traditionalTaoism culture using the ecology and Science of Human Settlement. Finally, finding a way suit to the national condition for residential environment constructionPaper includes seven chapters. The first chapter is the introduction section,including the research background, purpose, object, significance, reviews, the method,the system and basic concept and theory. The second chapter outlines the Chinesetraditional Taoist culture in the view of ecology civilization. In this chapter, it describesthe evolution of human civilizations, the ecological natural view, the ethics view and thepractical view of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. The third chapter discusseshistorical evolution of Taoism and ecological ideology. Taking the Taoism ecologicalideas as studying object, the third chapter analyzes the theoretical element, ethicconstruction and reality application in detail. The fourth chapter discusses Taoismecological ideas in Traditional Taoism architecture. Research is carried out on theculture of Traditional Taoism architecture, the principle of location, the spatial signatureand the relationship between Taoism temple and society, and finds the element thatbring benefit to construct the ecological residential environment. The fifth chapterrefines the ecological ideas in the traditional dwelling house. Research is carried out onthe development of dwelling house, the ecological natural view, the principle of location,the spatial signature, construction technology and building material, and finds theelement that brings benefit to construct the ecological residential environment. The sixthchapter discusses the value and enlightenment of Taoism ecological ideas under theconstruction of residential environment. This chapter summarizes the ecological ideasof Taoism in the construction of residential environment, after combing, induction,summarizing, the fundamental basis of thought is formed to correctly guide theconstruction of residential environment The seventh chapter is conclusion. Itsummarizes the research conclusion and prospects for future residential environmentconstruction.
