The joint aeronautical and maritime search and rescue is the most effective way of rescuing life at sea. The value and effectiveness of a co-ordinated air-maritime search and rescue is far more than single use of vessel or aircraft. The joint aeronautical and maritime search and rescue at sea is also an activity which is full of complexity and life-threatening. When the location of target in distress is unknown, the search process must be carried out. As the sole way to locate and rescue survivors, the search process is the most costly, hazardous and complicated part during the whole SAR operations. This dissertation focuses on the core problem about optimal selection of search effort, and task distribution which are often encountered in large area maritime search practice. And the main researches are summarized as the following three aspects:1. Modeling, solving and analyzing the global optimization problem of joint aeronautical and maritime search. The dissertation abstracts the optimal selection of search effort issue which is urgently to be solved in joint aeronautical and maritime search activity into a global optimization problem with vessel and aircraft quantitative constraints. A global optimal model for search effort selection is established. The model fully consider factors abort the area of sea region to be searched, the maximum speed, search capabilities, initial distance of the vessels and aircrafts, as well as aircrafts’life time. By introducing0-1decision variables, the optimization of search effort selection can be judged directly and effectivley. Through analyzing the global optimal results under different vessel and aircraft quantity, and considering the relationship between searching coverage time and number of search effort(cost), the optimal (economic and feasible) search scheme can be produced.2. An area partition (task allocation) algorithm of large sea region under the conditions of multi-vessels and aircrafts is proposed. According to the model’s results (covering area by optimal search efforts), the decomposition problem of search region at sea is introduced, which is partitioning the sea region into non-overlapping sub-regoin based on the searching area of each search effort and CSP(Commence Search Point), so all search efforts can cooperate to carry out search operations, and finally the entire search region can be covered with the shortest time.3. Three dimensional simulation of joint aeronautical and maritime search trend is realized. The method of simulating three dimensional search situation based on3D GIS technologies is proposed. Through visualization of aeronautical and maritime efforts’ dynamics in3D environment, search commander can master the tread of search action vividly; through the space-time analysis of search plan, verifying whether all search efforts can work cooperatively, the search operations can be ensured to be safe and effective.
