China has abundant crop straws, especially the rice straw, which can be taken full advantage for producing rice straw particleboard. However, currently, rice straw particleboard is characterized by such deficiencies as high cost, few end use methods, etc. Consequently, in this paper, the following studies were conducted by focusing on these deficiencies with the theory of reduction package design in green package design, which may provide supports for the appropriate development and utilization of rice straw particleboard.In order to solve the high cost of rice straw particleboard, the isocyanate adhesive can be reduced. In this thesis, the preparation technology of6mm-thick rice straw particleboard was explored, and it was concluded that optimal preparation technology shall be:hot pressing temperature was150℃, hot pressing time was2.0min/mm, phenolic adhesive glue spread was14%, MDI spread was3%, and paraffin was1%. The average thickness of the board prepared finally was5.5mm, and the average density was about0.75g/cm3.Since thin rice straw particleboard has no beautiful texture and color, the overlaying technology of rice straw board with sliced bamboo veneer was also studied in this thesis, and it was discovered that the glue-spread of PVAc had no significant influence on the mechanical properties of the base board, while the board with veneer had higher MOR but decreasing MOE. The surface bonding strength satisfied the requirements of national standards. The particleboard could have warm water resistant and not have hot water resistant. It was concluded that the overlaying technology parameters with sliced bamboo veneer were:the PVAc glue spread was110g/m2, hot pressing temperature was80℃, hot pressing period was1Omin and the hot pressure was1MPa.Meanwhile, composite molding was also conducted for the wood veneer and rice straw particleboard for enhancing the mechanical performance of rice straw particleboard, and both advantages and disadvantages of two composite forming methods were evaluated, and it was discovered that the once hot-pressing process had fewer preparation steps than the twice hot-pressing process, with better production efficiency and lower cost, and the board prepared had better performance. The preparation technology parameters were:phenolic glue spread of core straw particleboard was14%, paraffin was1%, phenolic glue spread of wood veneer was75g/m2, hot pressing temperature was150℃, and hot pressing time was20min. Furthermore, the core straw particleboard also can select MDI glue spread within0%and2%according to the service environment.Finally, the packaging boxes for jewelry packaging and containing were manufactured with rice straw particleboards overlaid with sliced bamboo veneer and wood veneer, aiming to develop the sales terminal utilization of the rice straw board. The modeling and appearance design of packing box were conducted in this thesis. According to the size of the package contents and the related theory of human body engineering, the form of packing box was determined with square body shape, three different box sizes were designed, the local structures were determined to use tenon joining, adhesive joining and steel connector joining. Three boxes were manufactured finally, which were evaluated from the materials selection, structural modeling and form aesthetic. As for the appearance design and visual effect of the packing box, the overall design took the vintage style as the principal line-floral scrolls jewel case of Tang Dynasty style, reflected the traditional Chinese style with color, and shaped the vintage style of package with lacquerware technique. The technique effect of graphic language manufacture was concluded for the rice straw board, and finally, three packing boxes made from rice straw particleboards were finished, showing that the preparation of packing box with rice straw particleboards overlaid with sliced bamboo veneer and wood veneer was quite feasible.
