Research on the fuel air explosive has attracted many interests with the increasingsignificance of battle field damage and destruction of fuel air explosive using methane andother hydrocarbons as fuel. To meet the requirement of attacking different underground target,many new functional fuel-air bombs such as oil vapor bomb, terrorist bomb, thermo baricbomb have been developed. But research have been focused on the development of new typeof cloud detonation, improvement of experimental method and overpressure distribution oflaw of cloud detonation effect, only little research on the battle effectiveness of clouddetonation effect and biological effect of personnel injuries of explosion shock wave havebeen reported. Methane is not only one of the fuel of cloud detonation but also importantcomposition of the coal bed methane gas. Due to the frequent accidents of coal and hugelosses to the people’s life and property caused by gas explosion, much attention has been paidto characteristics of methane explosion and damage mechanism of explosion and damagethreshold, explosion-proof explosion suppression. Depth research on the disabled within theconfined space of methane explosion, mechanism to the injury of personnel not to mentionpathological mechanism, damage type of defense research and treatment has been reportedrarely.Considering not only the similarity of injury on people and animal caused by clouddetonation shock wave and explosion shock wave but also the research blank of targetedorgan and pathological changes of functional body, studies using rats as a model animal onsimulation of damage to animals, damage mechanism and damage degree of the effect ofbiology of methane explosion were carried out.Firstly, impaction of obstacle factors of different position of the rat, rat posture, on damage degree on liver, spleen and lung and the mechanism of death have been discussed usinghomemade closed stainless steel pipe explosion device in methane/air mixture (10%volumepercent) atmosphere. The result indicated that methane explosion can damage liver, spleenespecially lung injury. Microstructure and ultra-structure of lung indicated that of lung ismuch more sensitive to explosion shock wave pressure and is easily to be damaged fatally.Thus lung is recognized to be gumming viscera of shockwave. Analysis of suction in the ratalveolar of black carbon particles indicated that in the airtight environment reflection wavecan lead to dramatically body damage than the incident wave.Secondly, explosion frequency of methane/air (6%volume percent) mixture explosive onlung and liver damage in homemade closed stainless steel pipe was studied. The resultindicated that lung injury increased gradually not exponentially with the increasing ofexplosive frequency. And increasing of liver damage was not as obviously as lung damage.Further research showed pressure of explosion shock wave is the root cause of death in rats.Thirdly, damage degree on liver, spleen and lung of rat in different position and themechanism of death have been discussed using circular obstacle to the pipeline explosiondevice in methane/air mixture (10%volume percent) atmosphere. The result showed that bothblocking rate and number of obstacles in circular obstacle have a significant influence on themethane explosion pressure. Methane explosion overpressure is0.5036MPa and rate ofincreasing of pressure is31.1MPa/s under the condition of three circle obstacles and blockingrate50%; methane explosion in barrier pipe result in burning of rats and especially seriouslyfracturing of and alveolar septum alveolar thus directly led to the deaths of all rats on the spot.And lung damage degree is obvious rats in the ending of pipe comparing to the front of pipe.No obviously difference on damage of liver, spleen between pipes with or without barrier inpipe.Finally, overpressure formula was modified using coefficient of blocking ratio; calculationformula of gas explosion shock wave to human body damage under the condition of settingdisabled was obtained. According to correction formula, methane explosion overpressure is0.312MPa when personnel killed probability is50%in the coal mine roadway, overpressure is0.015MPa when slight damage is caused. Division and calculated dead zone, seriouslyinjured area, the minor area of methane explosion was carried by the Formula of vapor cloudexplosion simulation.The study plays a key role in effect on the battlefield of biology, pathology, blast injurymechanism of instant death caused by fuel-air bomb explosion shock wave but also providetheoretical and technical support for the Prevention and treatment of life during the process ofmine gas explosion.
