Car ownership is increasing year by year in the world, with the rapid development of automobile market, the governments have placed increasing restrictions on the fuel consumptions and emissions of the vehicle. In order to reduce the vehicle energy dependence on oil, many countries carry out the research and development of new energy vehicles, especially in recent years, pure electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid vehicle is the main direction of the development of new energy vehicles. Due to the mileage limitations of electric vehicle, high cost of the battery, but plug-in hybrid vehicle has the good economy, high dynamic performance, low emission, which becomes an importnat direction of development of new energy vehicle. This paper focused on the fuel economy optimal control strategy development for plug-in 4 wheels drive hybrid electric vehicle.Firstly, through the research and analysis the trends of hybrid vehicle and government support policies in the world, determine the technical route of plug-in hybrid vehicle. At the same time, base on the analysis of different types, different structure forms of hybrid powertrain system, this program decide the solution of dual clutch coupling mechanism of plug-in hybrid powertrain system.Secondly, base on the analysis of the development process, design method, optimization approach and validation method, put forward the plug-in 4WD hybrid vehicle control strategy development solution. Using theoretical model and experimental velidation of a combination of approach, established the dual clutch coupling mechanism 4 wheels drive plug-in hybrid system model and control strategy simulation platform in Matlab/Simulink environment.Thirdly, based on the operating characteristics of plug-in hybrid vehicle, define the vehicle operating model under the typical cycle and establish the optimal control method for energy flow and system efficiency. And establish control algorithm model and control parameters optimization method.Fourthly, according to the ISO-26262 standard, establish the vehicle control system functional safety development process, and break down the functional safety goals of the hybrid vehicle control system. Finish the development of the control strategy of system functional safety.Finally, complete the design of vehicle controller, the hardware-in-loop test and real vehicle test solution, and complete the relevant test and test data analysis. Under the NEDC drive cycle, finish the fuel saving rate of real vehicle testing and analysis, to verify the control strategy and control model are correct.
