In engineering design, engineers’ lesson-learned knowledge is a kind of important resources, and enterprises pay more and more attention on lesson-learned knowledge management. However, it is difficult of describing and sharing lesson-learned knowledge, which becomes barriers for lesson-learned knowledge accumulation and reuse. In order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness, this dissertation focuses on the lesson-learned knowledge accumulation and reuse methods in the engineering design domain. The key techniques of lesson-learned knowledge accumulation are introduced, and two methods for lesson-learned knowledge reuse are proposed, which are knowledge map based lesson-learned knowledge navigation, and semantic based lesson-learned knowledge query. In addition, the proposed theory is implemented in the domain of engineering design, and its case study is also illustrated. In this dissertation, engineering design lesson-learned knowledge denotes the empirical personal or organizational experience knowledge that generates from the the problem-solving process and can be described in text.With respect to the above analysis, the main contents are outlined as follows:(1)The dissertation proposes a Wiki based lesson-learned knowledge accumulation framework and some new mechanisms based on Wiki techniques. By considering a combination of expertise relevance and social importance of users’ in Wiki community, an expert finding mechanism is proposed. Through improving the natural language processing algorithms, such as concepts extraction and weights computation, and merging the synonym/near-synonym topics based on semantic relations, a topic tag generation method for lesson-learned knowledge items is proposed.(2)The dissertation introduces a framework of lesson-learned knowledge navigation based on knowledge map, and researches the concept model, element and sorts of knowledge map. Then, the design and navigation method of topic knowledge map is proposed, which provides a whole picture of topics and relations for lesson-learned knowledge in engineering design domain. Also, the construction and navigation method of expert knowledge map is proposed, and the way of using social network theory to improve lesson-learned knowledge sharing is introduced.(3)The dissertation introduces a general framework of semantic based lesson-learned knowledge query. It researches the semantic annotation method for the Wiki environment which supports enterprises’ lesson-learned accumulation, and constructs a semantic annotation model. It researches multi-topics collaborative search techniques, and proposes multi-topics weighted query methods. Based on semantic technology, by building an engineering design domin ontology, a query expansion strategy based on ontology is proposed. As the engine of lesson-learned knowledge query, a novel semantic matching method is introduced.(4)The proposed theories are implemented in the domain of outfitting production design. The system architecture of lesson-learned knowledge accumulation and reuse platform is introduced. By using the prototype system, some cases for lesson-learned knowledge accumulation by using expert finding mechanism and topic tag generation method are given, and some scenarios for lesson-learned knowledge reuse by using knowledge map and semantic search method in the engineering design process are also illustrated.
