Apolygus lucorum (Meyer-Dur) (Heteroptera:Miridae) is an important insect pest of cotton, fruits, vegetables and other crops, but the species also feeds on some pests. However, for the feeding habits study ofApolygus lucorum is not comprehensive enough. In this study, the effect of five food condition treatments on the population growth of A.lucorum was evaluated in the laboratory, influence of the growth and reproduction ofA.lucorum with the adding of animal foods for three generations was observed, the different population density on the growth of A.lucorum was compared, the influence of enzymes activity, trehalose content as well as the relative expression of related genes with different feeding conditions was observed. Main conclusions were as follows:(1) In the comparison of the nymphs develepment and adult reproductive under different feeding conditions, the results showed that both feeding animal food and plant foods was benifited for the development and reproduction of A.lucorum, cotton leaf was not good for the growth and development of A.lucorum. These studies indicate that A.lucorum does have a certain ability to prey on H.armigera eggs, however, during the growth and development of A.lucorum, plant food is still preferred to animal food.(2) In the observed of A.lucorum with adding animal food on three successive generations, we found that in the process of three successive generations of single-end feeding, add or not add the animal food, the adult reproduction of A.lucorum was decline, but the adding of the animal food should be able to narrow the fall of reproductive capacity.(3) In the study of A.lucorum development fed on corn with different densities, we found that the high density is not good for the development of A.lucorum nymphs, and the density at 50~100/box is advisable.(4)In the determination of related enzymes activity of A.lucorum with the different feeding condition, we found that the different feeding affect the related digestive enzyme activity of A.lucorum.lf feeding animal food, the lipase activity of A.lucorum is relative taller, if feeding plant-based foods, the amylase activity of A.lucorum is relative taller, and enzyme activity and trehalose content of A.lucorum adult was associated with the growth and development status of the bugs, the healthy bugs individual enzyme activity and trehalose content is relatively high, and poor growth and development of individual enzyme activity is low, the trehalose content is relatively low. Under different feeding conditions, the trehalose enzymes of adult is no obvious changed.5) In the determination of the genes relative expression of A.lucorum adult under different feeding condition, we found that under the different feeding condition, bugs related gene expression situation changed. When feeding only cotton bollworm eggs, the trehalose enzyme gene Tre-1 and Tre-2 expression were relatively low; when feeding with cotton leaf, SP3 gene expression quantity is higher; in the different feeding conditions, PG5-1gene expression of quantity is relatively stable;when the feeding condition is not conducive for the bugs growth, the expression of heat shock protein gene Hsp90 have increased significantly.
