Huangdi’s Internal Classic is the earliest systematic and complete medical classics, which is listed as one of four great classics of traditional Chinese medicine. Its refined language and culture are of a very high medical, historical and literary value. Bloodletting therapy has been a system in Huangdi’s Internal Classic, and Huangdi’s Internal Classic has made it a part of acupuncture and moxibustion study. Historically bloodletting therapy is an important and powerfully healing methods, and many of its mechanism of actions are obtained by experiments in modern medicine. This is why I am interested in the bloodletting therapy in Huangdi’s Internal Classic, and it is also the reason why this article choose bloodletting therapy in Huangdi’s Internal Classic’s translation study as the theme.1.Background of ResearchThe research background of this paper is in terms of literary value in Huangdi’s Internal Classic, and also medical value in Huangdi’s Internal Classic. Huangdi’s Internal Classic casts of both the medicine and literature. The ancient Chinese medicine doctors are not only good at medicine but also good at literature. Therefore, Huangdi’s Internal Classic not only has very high literature value, but also has very high medical value.2.Purpose of ResearchThe purpose of this article is to study Huangdi’s Internal Classic about bloodletting therapy in comparative analysis of the translation, standing on the dual perspective, language and bloodletting therapy from the aspects of different language, different culture study of Huangdi’s Internal Classic, and hope to make more research in order to impel the innovation of theory of traditional Chinese medicine and make Chinese medicine knowledge spread abroad, especially the classics of traditional Chinese medicine and to promote Chinese medicine in English teaching and learning, improving our ability to use Chinese medicine English, reduce or avoid the happening of mistakes, and further improving the translation level of TCM classics, promoting international cultural exchanges.3.Research StatusAt present, the comparative study on English translation work in Huangdi’s Internal Classic is mainly carried out from the following several aspects:First, from the perspective of language translation of words and sentence patterns or context of comparative study. Second, the translation of some terms in Huangdi’s Internal Classic. Third, in a certain language translation theory as the backing, to contrast the study of two English versions of Huangdi’s Internal Classic in similarities and differences or advantages and disadvantages. Fourth, from the subjectivity of the translator in translation Huangdi’s Internal Classic, the impact of comparative study.4. Significance of ResearchAlthough Huangdi’s Internal Classic are translated many times, and many researchers at home and abroad for the communication between Chinese and western culture has laid a good foundation, due to cultural differences in background, such as history and geography, many foreign scholars to the classics of traditional Chinese medicine is rich in peculiar cultural connotation is not very understanding. Therefore, in this paper, Huangdi’s Internal Classic’s translation study has a certain significance. At the same time, the development of translation studies in Huangdi’s Internal Classic for both English and traditional Chinese medicine is highly limited and its translation study career is highly uneven, more interdisciplinary English professional researchers’ participation is necessary. This is the second significance of the research.5.Reseach ObjectThe influence and huge medical contribution of Huangdi’s Internal Classic to China and the world’s cultural is beyond dispute. The translation of this medicine classic has been the academic focus for many years. Different translators of different historical periods have made different translations from the same original text respectively. The two versions of cover-to-cover translation this article selected were:Huangdi’s Internal Classic translated by Wu Liansheng and Wu Qi, father and son, published by Science and Technology of China Press, and Huangdi’s Internal Classic translated by Mr Li Zhaoguo, published by the World Book Publishing Company.6.Research MethodsHuangdi’s Internal Classic comes down to medicine, literature, philosophy, social science and natural science, therefore, the translation studies should also be set from multiple perspectives, using a variety of methods. In this paper, the research methods mainly include:the interpretation method, the traditional Chinese medicine and linguistics cross method, comparison method, the translation method, and comprehensive induction.7.ConclusionsThrough the comparison of the bloodletting therapy chapters in the English translation of Huangdi’s Internal Classic’s translation between Li Zhaoguo’s version and Wu Liansheng and Wu Qi’s version, the characteristics of bloodletting therapy in Huangdi’s Internal Classic and advantages and disadvantages of the two translations are respectively drew the followingconclusions:Characteristics of bloodletting therapy in Huangdi’s Internal Classic are:First, bloodletting therapy is under the guidance of the channels and collaterals theory; Second, bloodletting parts mostly locate in the distal limbs or head; Third, bloodletting attending features combined with attending acupoints features; Fourth, bloodletting therapy combined with acupuncture acupoints commonly.The bloodletting therapy in the two translations of Huangdi’s Internal Classic has the following characteristics and shortcomings:First, Wu father and son’s translation has the following features:A. Wu father and son use authentic and flexible language in their translation. B. Wu father and son have rich clinical experience, and their understanding of the scripture is relatively accurate and in place. C. In terms of sentence patterns, Wu father and son are good at using imperative and active tense sentences. D. Wu father and son sometimes are casual, and there will be some clerical errors occurs. Second, Li Zhaoguo’s translation has the following characteristics:A. Li Zhaoguo’s translation conforms to the Chinese habits of thinking. B. He translates the terms in the text by means of the combination of transliteration and free translation which deserves affirmation and praise. C. Li Zhaoguo are accustomed to use the passive sentences. D. Li Zhaoguo’s deficiency lies in the relative lack of experience in clinical practice.Current comparative study on the translation of Huangdi’s Internal Classic is not a lot. The study is mainly developed within the category of language translation. This article selects the translation part of the bloodletting therapy in Huangdi’s Internal Classic to comparatively study on English translations through the bloodletting therapy, the ancient Chinese medicine treatment. As an important classic of traditional Chinese medicine, Huangdi’s Internal Classic will be constantly retranslated in the future, therefore, the discussion of this article is supposed to has both theoretical value and practical significance.
