Objective:To investigate the effects of occupational therapy combine acupuncture therapy in improving perceptual-motor dysfunction of the community stroke patients, and to provide the scientific theory and the practice evidence for the further application and dissemination. Methods:The study adopts the design of the prospective randomized controlled trial,188 patients who correspond with inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups.93 patients in the treatment group adopt the occupational therapy combine acupuncture therapy, and the other 95 patients in the control group adopt only occupational therapy. And the rehabilitation evaluation was taken before and after the treatment, the motor function was assessed by modified Fugl-Meyer Assessment of Physical Performance (FMA); the activities of daily living tested by modified Barthel ADL index; the quality of life evaluated by the World Health Organization quality of Life (WHOQOL-100).Results:(1)The age, sex, and the lesion of the patients were not statistically significant (P>0.05) between the treatment group and the control group after the statistical analysis. The general clinical materials of the two groups are comparable.(2)Comparison among groups:The differences about the motor function, the activities of daily living and the quality of life between the treatment group and the control group were not statistically significant (P> 0.05) before the treatment, they are comparable. The differences in the motor function, the activities of daily living and the quality of life between the two groups were statistically significant (P< 0.05) after the therapy.(3) Intra-group comparison:In the treatment group, there were no statistically significant differences (P< 0.05) between before and after treatment according to the motor function, the activities of daily living and the quality of life. And the differences between before and after treatment in the control group were also statistically significant (P< 0.05).Conclusion:(1) Occupational therapy combine acupuncture therapy can improve the motor function for the stroke patients, and it’s superior to occupational therapy.(2) Occupational therapy combine acupuncture therapy can improve the activities of daily living for the stroke patients, and it’s superior to occupational therapy.(3) Occupational therapy combine acupuncture therapy can improve and the quality of life for the stroke patients, and it’s superior to occupational therapy.
