Objective:To study Zheng Qinan’experience of diagnosis and treatment for insomnia, forgetfulness, heartache, heart palpitations, mania, and delirium, to clarify Zheng’s clinic characteristics, key points of diagnosis and treatment, and practical value, and ultimately in order to improve diagnosis and treatment of such disorders. Methods:Analyzing and explaining Zheng’s three books Yi Fa Yuan Tong, Yi Li Then Chuan, Shang Han Heng Lun, and other’s documents which are relevant with Zheng’s theory. Results:Zheng’s experience for diagnosis and treatment of heart disease has four characteristics:First, Yang and Yin deficiency syndromes have clear objective proofs. And Zheng strongly opposed abusing of cold medicine. What’s more, of all differentiation proofs, Zheng paid more attention to the Status of "Shen". Sometimes the lack of "Shen" was the determinate proof for Yang deficiency syndrome.Second, Emphasizing Yang deficiency syndromes exist in insomnia, forgetfulness, heartache, palpitation, delirium and mania. And Zheng promoted hot herbs and formulas for treating such disorders, Opposing not to use hot herbs and formulas, or treat Yang deficiency syndromes, because of personal preferences.Third, the intersection of heart and kidney is the fundament of human being. While the key pathogenesis of heart disease is that the intersection is not normal. Especially according to Zheng’s theory, kidney Yang is important in the recovery of heart and kidney intersection. Therefore Zheng emphasized to rise Kindey Yang instead of reducing heart yin.Fourth, Zhongjiao plays a key role in the heart and kidney intersect. One is cleaning the road which heart and kidney uses when they intersect; the other is covering the fire, so the hot herbs can last working.Fifth, in the prescription for heart disease, aconite doses were 10g-30g. Cheng used. Zheng was a great master of using, not blindly pursued the large doses. Also warning the later doctors, the doses of aconite are depending on evidence, only pursuing for large doses is wrong. Learning and researching Zheng Qinan’experience of diagnosis and treatment for heart diseases has great value for improving the clinical efficacy. |
