A Theoretical And Empirical Study For Senior Health Service Quality With Ta Tung Management Perspective In Taiwan

Senior service is a global management issue nowadays. “Aging is a global management issue nowadays. The old are provided for till their death” is an ideal in Chinese traditional culture, especially Confucious’ s Ta Tung(Great Unity) perspective. To create a healthy, delightful and confident life for seniors,We believe that society could reach the ideal through the management named “Ta Tung Management Thought”, and we propose a strategic management structure accordingly. In this research, we propose a management conceptual framework with one ultimate goal, four crucial factors and sixteen management strategies. After empirically analyzed with specific cases among certain communities through Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP), the results indicate the feasibility and the priority of our structures.The results show that priorities between the crucial factors are: professional medical persons for senior service(B3), resources input from private business and public sector(B2), high quality for senior medical and health service(B4), technology and innovation for senior service(B1). The priority between the 16 management strategies are: medical person should be professional with senior service(C9), strategic planning for senior service(C8) and JIT service system senior service(C14), professional training(C12), integrated with community resources(C16), public facilities and accessible environment(C7), increase new senior service department(C10), assistive devices to improve senior’s life(C15), resources integration and management for business(C6), new capital investment for senior service industry(C5), more social support and guarantees service(C13), diversified service for seniors(C1), medical new knowledge for senior service(C11), correct concepts for health and medical service(C3), new technology for senior living quality(C4).Conclusions showed that Ta Tung perspective is a valuable modern management practice. The professionals for senior service is the most important factor about the ultimate goal and management quality. The senior service persons should be professionals is the first priority management strategy and action. There are three management implications: Ta Tung management perspective is a global management research topic; senior service is important issue for service industry management; AHP methodology is a good tool for management decision making.
