The Research Of Education In Painting Academy In The Northern Song And The Southern Song Dynasties

In the beginning of Northern Song Dynasty, King Taejo continued the rule of PaintingAcademy in the Five Dynasties, he set up a institute like the Hanlin painting Academy under theImperial Academy, which was promoted to be the Hanlin painting Academy at the East Gate in theCourt, on the first year in Yongxi by Taizong. Later ages, the organization was called PaintingAcademy or Art Academy in short generally.Because of some special reasons on political, cultural and aesthetics, not only did there needlots of educational activities in the the Hanlin Painting Academy, but also exsisted actually. In asense, the Hanlin Painting Academy was also an educational institution.However, because of unfamiliar with the references on the Northern and Southern SongPainting Academy, the later scholars’ researches mostly focused on the establishment, origin,creation. While the Education on Painting Academy researches in the Northern and Southern SongDynasties were lacked, such as the purpose of education, the content and the way of PaintingAcademy of Hanlin, there are a series of questions have not a satisfactory answer till nowadays.There were no one interested in the questions on the relationship of education and the political,cultural, aesthetic and Painting Studio creation between the the Northern and Southern Songspainting academy.This paper based on my sorting out and analyzing the literatures to try to clarify the educationsystem in Song Painting Academy. In order to give a satisfactory reply of the education of theSong Painting Academy, I examed the purpose, content, form and the mean of education and thevalue of doing a full range of inspection.
