Research On The Commentaries Of Zuo Xiu

In the form of monograph on the grammar of Tso Chuan, Zuo Xiu is the full text of "law" milestone. It represents the highest achievement of Tso Chuan. Based on the research of Qing Dynasty scholars Feng Lihua and Lu Hao, the paper reveals the Zuo Xiu’s features in literature criticism, the law of Ancient Chinese Literature, rhetoric and others with the style of time, public morals, academic atmosphere and other aspects. Furthermore, the paper studies the literature comments of Tso Chuan before Qing Dynasty the reasons why these comments come to the prime period, the aesthetic forms and literature value, thus promotes the further research of the commentaries on Tso Chuan and its history.Zuo Xiu is closely bound up with zeitgeist of the Six Classics which deem all the Classics are documents. It is the milestone of the most systematic and most quintessential works. Zuo Xiu’s writers, Feng Lihua and Lu Hao, are connected with Yan and Li’s School directly or indirectly, such as its representatives Li Gong and Wang Yuan. Their solid academic style as well as deep thoughts not only have inner links with the regional culture, historiographical tradition, prosperity of imperial examinations in the area of Qiantang River in Zhejiang Province, but also inseparable with national policy and thoughts of practical learning in Kangxi Era of Qing Dynasty.Zuo Xiu questions the classics with that time’s articles. Its comments are different to previous ages with unseen viewpoints of predecessor. It often adopts the regular expression linking with the context, a main clues across whole commentaries, with the angle of host or guest, using ambushing statements and other grammars. Therefore, it gets a remarkable achievement in the commentaries of character, war, language, narration and others. Its contribution in commentaries lies in literature, grammar but also covers in traditional Classics, historiographies and other fields. In commenting the Classics, it begins with the events and ends with the justice and meaning, arguing with reasons, seeking the difference and similarity with the mixed Classics and other ways. In commenting the historiographies, it discusses with a narration, judging the truth and false with reasons? concise language, cross-reference and other grammars.Together with the books "the prescribed books for the brilliant scholar in the world","the origin and reference of ancient prose","the analysis of meaning in ancient literature","a general views of ancient prose","examples of meaning in Tso Chuan" and other comment representative books before Qing Dynasty, Zuo Xiu has the same heritage with them, but different features with "comments on Tso Chuan" and "analects of Yu Chu Zhuo".
