The Research Of Xuancheng Gong Family In The Yuan Dynasty

Xuancheng Gong family was an important family of literature in Yuan Dynasty. Four generations started from Gong Shijun to Gong Xingzhi were active during the Yuan Dynasty. There were up to20people had poems handed down, among them Gong Kui, Gong Shitai and Gong Xingzhi had Collected works. Xuancheng Gong family’s continuity and the activity of literary creation was rare in the literature of the Yuan Dynasty. Especially Xuancheng Gong family played a role in literary achievement, artistic achievement and the development of the Yuan literature, so can be regarded as the representative of Yuan Dynasty’s literature family. This paper tries to investigate Xuancheng Gong family’s development, cultural heritage and literary friends and so on, to show the historical status and role of Gong’s family in the Yuan Dynasty literature, to understand the changes in different periods of Jiangnan’s literati political and cultural status, to grasp the development of the literature of the Yuan Dynasty from one side.The dissertation falls into three parts:introduction, the main body containing six chapters and conclusion.The introduction part first defines the research object, then points out that as important family in the Yuan Dynasty Xuancheng Gong family’s significance and value in literature research, and combs the research situation of Xuancheng Gong family from the Yuan Dynasty to the present day, final states the research ideas.The first chapter discusses the origin of Xuancheng Gong family, divided into three sections. The first section introduces the Xuancheng Gong’s origin and a blood relationship with Danyang Gong family. The second section hackles Xuancheng Gong family tree. The third section counts writers from Xuancheng Gong family and whose poems spread in the Yuan Dynasty.The second chapter discusses Xuancheng Gong family’s tradition and culture, and literary activities, divided into three sections. First introduces Gong’s good, filial piety and loyalty. Then introduces Gong family’s culture which takes confucianism as the center. Finally introduces the family literary activities.The third chapter discusses Xuancheng Gong’s life and the creation of poetry in time of Song and Yuan dynastic war fires, inspects the life and literary creation of Gong Shijun’s generation, to show the reclusive life and political environment of early Yuan Dynasty, to expound the characteristic of literary communication and poetry.The fourth chapter discusses Gong kui’s generation and flourishing age of literature in Yuan Dynasty, divided into three sections. This chapter examines poets’ life and literary creation of Gong kui’s generation, focusing on Gong kui’s literary achievement, to study North South integration problems in Dadu and the influence of imperial examination on literary world.The fifth chapter discusses Gong Shitai’s generation and literature at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, inspects the life and literary creation of Gong Shitai’s generation, and elaborates the literary achievement of Gong Shitai.The sixth chapter discusses Xuancheng Gong’s life and literary creation when the dynasty changed from Yuan to Ming, inspects the life and literary creation of Gong Xingzhi’s generation, elaborates the poetry characteristic of Gong Xingzhi.The seventh chapter discusses the Yuan Dynasty’s literati, to sort out mentality changes and development of literary expression of the officials which came from Jiangnan area of Yuan Dynasty.In the conclusion part, summarizes the official and literary style of Xuancheng Gong’s four generations in Yuan Dynasty, and reveals the evolution from adherents of the Song Dynasty, to poet-minister of the Yuan Dynasty, to Good official of the Yuan Dynasty, to adherents of the Yuan Dynasty, shows the evolution of Xuancheng Gong family’s literary characteristics changed from elegant to clear.
