| On the basis of the research of our predecessors, this paper has made acomprehensive study on Five-jing Liushou of Liao Dynasty. I explore the Five-jingsetting-up of Liao Dynasty and the official duties of Liushou. Textual research andsupplement of Five-jing Liushou are made. I analyze the selection of Liushou, inferthe frequency of Liushou’s replacement and classify Liushou’s departures. In the end,I sum up the general situation of Five-jing Liushou. The historical status and the roleof Five-jing Liushou are expounded. The change of Five-jing Liushou is analyzedwith Han-Liushou. Full-text is divided into three parts: the preface, the bodycomposed by4chapters and the conclusion. Now, we generalize the contents andmain points of this paper as followed in the sequence of writing. In the preface, we combine the current research status of academia and concludethe deficiency existing in the present study. On this foundation, we point out theemphasis, the difficulty and the methods on how to do the research. The second part, the body is divided into4chapters.The first chapter mainly inspects the Five-jing setting-up of Liao Dynasty andthe official duties of Liushou. Firstly, the Five-jing setting-up of Liao Dynasty is setforth. The development of the Five-jing is analyzed according to the stages. Secondly, the official duties of Liushou are discussed. Militarily, Liushou does military defensewithin the Five-jing, conducts border affairs, and takes command to battle.Administratively, Liushou mobilizes all means such as economy, culture, etc. in orderto realize the stability and development of the region. The second chapter inspects textual research and supplement of Five-jingLiushou. With the historical data and the stone tablet, Liushou crew are differentiatedand analyzed comprehensively. In the meantime, some Liushou are added oreliminated. The third chapter inspects the selection of Liushou. Five-jing Liushou is thehighest official in Liao Dynasty. The great families in Liao Dynasty occupy theabsolute monopoly during the selection of Liushou. The following reasons will beconsidered as the good family background, the ways of entering official career and theformer official. No matter what kind of factors, safeguarding the interests of theQidan ruling-class service is cardinal principle. That is to say, the selection ofLiushou is clearly ethnic characteristic. On the other hand, outstanding forces of theHan, the Bohai and the Xi can also be jointed. But the quantity is limited. So, theselection of Liushou is limited to the other ethnics. The fourth chapter inspects the frequency of Liushou’s replacement and theirdepartures.Using three kinds of mathematical statistical methods, I infer the frequencyof Liushou’s replacement with the existing data and research. Liushou’s departure isdivided into three conditions. Firstly, they are to be transferred to other departments toserve; secondly, they are to death of staying on; and thirdly, they are to resign. Andthe first form is an overwhelming majority. The last is the conclusion. After summarizing the whole article, I sum up thegeneral situation of Five-jing Liushou. The historical status and role of Five-jingLiushou are expounded. The selection of Han-Liushou transits from wartime needsduring the early stage to Yin Bu and imperial examination during the middle and laterstage. |
