China has been experiencing rapid urbanization since its reform and opening up to the rest of the world. As the marginalized group in urban society, migrant workers are a key focus in researches and the studies of their living conditions have taken center stage especially in the field of sociology, psychology, law, political science and social security. In recent years, it has been brought to attention that "temporary couples" have become a popular trend among migrant workers. Voluntary civil unions are formed between married male and female workers while their respective spouses are not around."Temporary family " and " temporary couples" have its own unique social environment and structural causes, such as the contradiction of the original family, the demands of reality, social impact, and institutional factors. But the pressure from within and outside the original family leads to discrete. People who acceptedthe shock from modern culture suffered double criticism during the game with traditional family ethics. Finally it separates in the structural tension. First, this phenomenon is a unique phenomenon in social transition and will continue to exist. Second, it represents the impact of new concept between modernization background and the traditional family ethics. Third, women achieve personal self-awakening in this relationship. This study is been started in M factory, K Casino and C Hotel in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province.Field survey have been used to understand the process of being acquaintance, making friend, felling in love, spending, and separation about "temporary couples".Then it will discuss new features between the field of family ethics and gender relations.This paper is divided into seven chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, including the background of this study, selecting process and literature review. Large-scale population movements cause the new changes in the field of marriage and family during social transformation and under the impact of modernization and urbanization of Chinese society. Literature studyincludes the study of family, gender relations and marriage for migrant workers. The second chapter introduces the research methods and theoretical perspectives. It includes definition of core concept, theoretical perspectives, research methods, research contend, surveys places, practical value and theoretical meaning.It researches marriage, family, fertility and sexual inspect of "temporary couples" by field survey and uses the modern theory of the family to analyzethis phenomenon.The third chapter introduces the living conditions of "temporary couples".It includes the way of being acquaintance and lifestyle of "temporary wife". They have beenin acquaintance and eventually develop into a cohabitation relationship based on industry, network and geographical relations.While it decribes their living conditions, the activities and life events.The fourth chapter analysis the reason of the "temporary couples" from four aspects such as the original family, the real appeal, social evalution and management system.Firstly, gender predicament of original families, economic hardship and emotional difficulties make breakdown in the original family relationships. Secondly, economic life, psychological and sexual appeal of "temporary couples" makes them more being willing live together. Tirldly, acquaintances and public morality condone this phenomenon by formal criticism and tolerance essentially.Finally, the defect of management system catalyzed the cohabitation process of "temporary couples".The fifth chapter describes the reasons of separationfor "temporary couples". The first the pressure is from the original family, inside or outside. Then, the reorganization of family is difficult in real life, especially in the aspects of family relationships and re-integration of social relations.Finally condemn from the social and moral conscience about the individual makes this relationship be hard to sustain.The sixth chapter describes the game between individual and the traditional in the modern context."Temporary couples" have suffered double blame from the traditional family ethics and modern values at the beginning of being in acquaintance, during and after the phase coexistence.Individual appearsstructural tension in the face of the double pressure. Eventually they return to the traditional family model. And this new family relationship is the shake to the traditional family ethicsfrom the modern family values.Chapter seven is the conclusion. The phenomenon of "temporary couples" as a social fact will persist during the transition period.While this relationship represent a temporary loosening of family ethics. As well as it highlights the autonomy of women in this relationship. Finally, it discusses the innovation, deficiencies and the follow-up study.
