From settling in the Sanjiao villages in Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and the neighboring area to the China’s reform and opening-up, the two branches of Miao,"Hmongb" and "Ad Hmaob" which live at the same village, have constructed the mode of differentiating "the others" by mastering ethnical symbols for almost 60 years. Maintaining their ethnic boundary by cultural bias with another branch at the same village, they constructed the village’s cultural system with cultural differences at the same village, and maintained the orderly operation of the village daily social lifeIn the context of the national modernization, especially over the past 30 years of China’s opening-up and reform, the traditional marital mode constructed by ethnic symbols of "Hmongb" and "Ad Hmaob" tended to disintegration. With the breaking of traditional marital construction and village order, the marital mode of this two Miao branches at Sanjiao Village changed greatly under the guiding of the country. By using modernization as analyzing framework, based on longtime fieldwork, dictating from villagers and behavioral features, this article records and explores the transition of Miao martial mode of "Hmongb" and "Ad Hmaob" at Sanjiao village, classified into different analyzing units by the spouse of marriage, the range of intermarriage, the standard of choosing spouse, the right of choosing spouse, marital etiquette, the cost of marriage and special marital custom. The findings suggest that these changes are mainly manifested in aspects like temporal and spatial displacement of marital spouse, the range of intermarriage extending inside-out, the increasing content of marriage etiquette and the cost of marriage changing from low cost maintaining to high cost burden and so on so forth.Besides, the process of marital mode transition of "Hmongb" and "Ad Hmanb" also reflects a basic character between the interaction of the country and ethnic society: national modernized "ordering planning" regulates and leads the change and development of ethnic society by using a "top-down" approach; on the other hand, as a voluntarily cultural strategy, ethnic societies in Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and the neighboring are promoting themselves’culture to adapt to new condition, realistically new development, which adequately manifests the subjectivity and independence of ethnic culture.
