In recent years, great progress has been made in the field of lacustrine marl reservoirs in Shulu Sag.And it has recently been an important exploration field of tight oil in Bohai Bay Basin. This papertakes the incorporate concept of petroleum geology basis and seismic reservoir prediction andconducts a large amount of testing and typical case study so as to investigate the origin of thickmarls, analyze the distribution of source rocks and effective reservoirs and carry out favorable zoneprediction and evaluation in Shulu Sag. And great progress has been obtained in the following threeaspects. Based on systematic evaluation of source rocks by oil formations, it reveals that marlsare excellent source rocks with higher capacity of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion.Conventionally, however, only dark mudstones are taken as good source rocks. Using the theoriesof gravity flow deposit and mixed deposit, it presents origin modes and lithofacies distribution rulesof lacustrine marls and demonstrates that conglomerates deposited by grain-supported debris flowand marls deposited by interbedded mix are favorable reservoir lithofacies types. Based oncomprehensive analysis on typical case and reservoir forming conditions, it suggests thatsource-reservoir assemblage is the key factor for the formation of marl reservoirs. And it alsoselects favorable exploration zones by combining seismic reservoir prediction. This paper providesthe instruction and reference for lacustrine carbonate oil and gas exploration and development.
