The current work was mainly undertaken on the preparation of polymer emulsion with secondary reactivity via two living radical emulsion polymerization methods, the final performance of two-component coating composed by multi-thiol terminated polyurethane aqueous dispersion and those emulsions was also studied. The main findings are:The UV-curable polymer emulsion with polyenes was prepared via the reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) radical emulsion polymerization, the influence factors and kinetics in RAFT emulsion polymerization of allyl methacrylate (AMA) were discussed, then optimized polymerization condition was concluded. Under this condition, the PAMA emulsion with controllable molecular weight and low crosslinking density was prepared successfully; the polymer emulsion of polyglycidylmethacrylate (PGMA) and the random PAMA-co-PGMA emulsion were also prepared by this way.UV curable thiol-ene and thermal curable thiol-epoxy waterborne two-component coatings were prepared by combining PAMA emulsions and PGMA emulsion with PUSH respectively, then the dul-curable hybrid thiol-ene/epoxy coatings were prepared by combining thiol-ene UV curable formulations with PGMA emulsion. The hybrid coating also can be prepared by combining the random PAMA-co-PGMA emulsion with PUSH, the property of the hybrid films was influenced by the components of PAMA-co-PGMA.The polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) emulsion was prepared via single electron transfer emulsion polymerization, the polymerization system of using the complexes of copper powder as catalyst is more controllable than copper wire complexes. When the conversion of MMA reached50%, the molecular weight distribution could be controlled well, which index is narrow (<1.7).The UV curable polymer emulsion containing fluorine was prepared via single electron transfer emulsion polymerization using AMA and hexafluorobutyl methacrylate (HFBA) as the copolymer monomers. The influence factors and kinetics in single electron transfer emulsion copolymerization of AMA and HFBA were discussed, and the optimized polymerization condition was concluded. Under this condition, the random PAMA-co-PHFBA emulsion with low crosslinking density was prepared successfully. The UV-curable waterborne thiol-ene two-component coating was prepared by combining the random PAMA-co-PHFBA emulsion with PUSH, the property of the UV-cured film was investigated.
