Since motivation has been widely accepted by both teachers and researchers asone of key factors that influence the success of second language learning, there havebeen considerable investigations and research related to motivation in secondlanguage learning. In recent decades, the number of motivation research has beenincreasing rapidly and consequently.The study shows that motivating strategies are especially important forcollege students in foreign language learning. The recent study on teachers‘motivating strategies is a popular topic. But the diversity of collegestudents‘learning level is frequently neglected. The teachers‘motivatingstrategies are faced to the most students in language practicalactivities. There is little consideration on the diversity of college students‘learning level. So the effectiveness of movativating strategies still remainsto be tested..From the teachers and the students two different perspectives, this paper studyis designed to examine motivational stimulation strategies of Chinese EFLcollege students, focusing on exploring the strategies that Chinese college studentsuse to stimulation motivation and the impact of motivational stimulation on theirEFL learning process and achievement.Dornyei (2001) supposes that the English proficiency level of students mayaffect the effectiveness of the motivating strategies. For verifying Dornyei‘shypothesis, this paper study is examined the the impact of motivatingstrategies on students‘EFL learning. Datas are collected through the instrumentalityof questionnaires, interviews and class observations. The main research focuseson the following fields:1. The practical impact of the teachers‘motivating strategies.2. The correlation between the English proficiency level of students and theeffectiveness of the motivating strategies, and the solution of this problem.3. The effective strategies of stimulation on the students‘learning motivation. The research of the motivation shows that it exists diversity among thestudents which are motivated, thereby verifying Dornyei‘s hypothesis the Englishproficiency level of students may affect the effectiveness of the motivatingstrategies. To solve this problem,the author puts forward an idea of the graded-teaching to deal with it, which divides the students into A B C three levels from highlevel to low level in order to improve the teachng qulaity with accordance ofDornyei‘s Three-Level motivation theory. The author also comes up with a point ofviw of the covertly-graded teaching in college English classroom to stimulate thestudents‘motivation and makes an empirical study to arouse the attention of theresearchers. Meanwhile the author points out that project-based learning andmultimedia network technology have brought about new opportunities for Englishteaching and emphasizes on the improvement of the methods on learning evaluationto stimulate the students‘learning motivation effectively.
