As the party’s banner and soul, the guiding ideology plays an irreplaceablerole in the maintenance of the authority of the party’s leadership, keeping all theParty members united and motivated and giving a theoretical guide to theparty’s practice. As an important part of the party’s self-construction, theconstruction of the party’s guiding ideology is not only related to the consolidation ofthe party’s ruling status, but also determines the future and destiny of the cause ofsocialism with Chinese characteristics. With the rapid development of socialeconomy, the party’s guiding ideology is innovated at an unprecedented speed. Thepresent studies on the party’s guiding ideology are getting hotter in academic circles,and new achievements emerging constantly. This phenomenon also provesadequately that the progress of practice needs theoretical guidance more and more.The guiding ideology that we thought we knew well before is meeting with newproblems frequently and becoming an imperative problem to be studied further.Based on the description of the historical background of the guiding ideology’sinnovation and development, this essay is focused on the localization of Marxism inChina as the main line, starting from the analysis of ideological extreme importancein contemporary China, and exploring the rules and regulations of the innovativedevelopment of the party’s guiding ideology, thus, in order to provide some referencefor the Chinese Communist Party’s building. This essay consists of three parts：introduction，text and conclusion. Introduction，in the reviewing of the previousresearch results, mainly introduces the theoretical and the practical significance ofthis research, the basic ideas, research methods, limits, and the innovative points ofthis paper. The text consists of five chapters. The first chapter discussesthe connotation and extension of the guiding ideology, including the main functionsand principal characteristics, starting from defining the concept of ideology theory,depending on setting up the basic framework of the guiding ideology theory. Thesecond chapter discusses how Mao Zedong thought was established as the party’sguiding ideology and its significance. The third chapter discusses how the theoreticalsystem of socialism with Chinese characteristics was established as the party’sguiding ideology and its significance. The fourth chapter discusses "China Dream".The fifth chapter summarizes the experience and enlightenment of the development of the guiding ideology. In the conclusion part, the essay further expounds that theguiding ideology keeping pace with the times is in an objective trend andhistorical process as well, any theory, from birth to becoming the guiding ideology ofthe Party，has to be derived from practice, and be put back into practice, and betested by practice, and then constantly enriches and develops itself in practice.
