About70%of the Earth's surface is the ocean. The ocean is the cradle of life and also contains a wealth of resources. Because island, reef and low-tide elevation, etc. has special status in the "United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea", there is huge rights and interests which involved territory, territorial waters, the contiguous zone and the exclusive economic zone. Attribution of any islands, reefs and low-tide elevations will have a profound effect on the rights and interests of sea. It has become the focus of the competition between nations. The island and reef are also very important fulcrum to explore and utilize Marine for human. Marine has character of real-time dynamic changes and interaction with island and reef. Which both has certain regularity and strong randomness. Island and reef have their regularity of dynamic changes under the influence of tidal in the marine environment. Research and understanding that will paly a key role in development of marine economy, effective exploitation of marine resources and protection of the marine environment.With mankind's further development and use of the marine. Island, reef and surrounding marine environment and monitoring has become strategic development and research directions. Especially in recent years, with the efforts of government in monitoring and investigation on island, reef and the surrounding environment. It has accumulated multi-scale, multi-source, heterogeneous, mass measurements and remote sensing data, high dynamic marine environment monitoring data and assimilation data. By using geo-information technologies and three-dimensional dynamic modeling and expression technologies. Researchers can adequately digging the information in massive data, and more visualized and efficient exploring and analyse on island, reef and the surrounding environment.After analysing the multi-source data modeling methods of land and sea, spatial temporal data model and three-dimensional dynamic modeling and expression. This paper establishes a seamless3D terrain model of island, reef and surrounding region. subdividable object oriented spatial temporal data model is designed for dynamically modeling and expressing a variety of marine objects and interact with island and reef. Based on digital Earth platform with domestic intellectual property rights. A dynamic visualization system of island and reef under tidal influence was developed to validated above theories and methods. This paper mainly consists following three aspects:(1) Analysed multi-source data and characteristics of terrain surrounding island and reef. Four inconsistencies of multi-source data of land and sea is studied. Unifies the plane datum, vertical datum, data format and presentation models. A continuous and seamless3D terrain model and integration of expression of island, reef and surrounding area is proposed.(2) Analysed characteristics of marine dynamic object and spatial temporal data models. Aim at supporting characteristics such as Multi-source, massive, multi-scale, and high-dynamic. Subdividable object oriented spatial temporal data model is proposed. It can not only support above characteristics of land and sea objects, but also describes and express the process of spatial and temporal changes and interaction. Modeling methods of several Marine dynamic objects is researched. Based on the subdividable object oriented spatial temporal data model. Tidal, wave, marine temperature and salinity field, tide and other marine dynamic objects are modeled and expressed. And the interact between island and tidal is also modeled.(3) Based on the theory, techniques and methods presented in this paper, a prototype system on digital earth platform is developed. The continuous and seamless3D terrain model of island, reef and surrounding area is packaged as a software service. And the marine dynamic objects is also modeled and visualized. Also some helpful attempt is made to high-dynamic objects and interactive modeling on digital Earth platform.The research shows that the subdividable object oriented spatial temporal data model of this paper can full support of multi-source, massive, multi-scale, and high-dynamic, and express the process of spatial and temporal changes and interaction. It can adapt to a variety of application architectures inluding digital earth platform and wide range use.
